Lightning tie it late. This is what makes hockey better than any sport. The ability to score goals in a real hurry. Also the ability for missed shots to keep play alive. Almost every other sport a missed shot means the end of the play.

And Rangers-Isles does have a lot of historical weight behind it. Sure, Rangers-Devils is a great rivalry now but if all three teams are equal, Ranger fans would hate the Isles more and Isle fans definitely hate the Rangers more. The Rangers are our biggest rival for sure, but it's not a no-brainer to say it's the best rivalry in hockey.

Always thought NJ/NYR is better to witness than NYR/NYI. Even with history. I thought that fire flared much more and coupled with great goalies from each side that come to play.

The Isles just have an entire generation of being so terrible that I feel the rivalry is on life support. The Devils/Rangers rivalry at least has something on the line when they play each other in the regular season. Against the Islanders, it's just been about which lottery pick NYI would end up with.

Panthers feed just put a question on the screen asking about what rivalry was the best in hockey, but they listed "Islanders vs. Rangers" and not "Devils vs. Rangers". Shows how much the folks down in Florida know about hockey.

For whatever reason they seem to really hate the Devils. Didn't one of these toolbox pretend last year that Brodeur wasn't even a top 5 goalie of All-Time ? Constantly implying that Kovalchuk is the complete Russian cliche too.

You would be surprised. I know an absolute moron of a Rangers fan who said last year that Brodeur was the 8th best goalie of all time. I recall Roy, Hasek, Sawchuk, and Dryden being on his list. Don't know who the next 3 were. Probably Lundqvist, Lundqvist, and Richter, with Brodeur being tied for 8th with Lundqvist.

Buffalo already down 2-0 to the Pens and just took a penalty less than 4 mins into the game.

Thankfully, we are not in a position where we have to rely on other teams to lose to make it into the playoffs. If this team just keeps winning at a decent pace, they will be fine.

Besides, we did the best in the playoffs when we were finally the lower seed through all the rounds (minus the finals.)
