He would be in our Top-6 easily and he's had much more success than Teds so far.

I cannot disagree with you there. I'm over it now though.

The one I wanted back was the Barry Tallackson pick in 02. That guy was so overhyped back then. He was a joke though.

I really wanted our pick from 06 back that went to St Louis. They picked Berglund, and we got a nightmare.

The difference is that the Devils are in a playoff spot, and the Wild are not.

? Sorry but you completely missed the point. Please, read the post I was replying to. If we're saying Parise needs Kovalchuk to produce at ES, let's be honest the same could be easily said about our guy too, since both are putting up the same poor numbers at ES.

Also The Wild is 2 points away from the 6th playoffs spot with 2 games in hand.

I understand why Clemmensen got the backup job over Ari initially. They wanted Ari playing every night in Albany, because he clearly had a bigger ceiling than Clemmensen.

It wouldn't have hurt after that many years in the organization though to give him a start at that time.

Haha yeah right! If Clemmensen plays that series we lose in 5 games. The only game anyone remembers in that series is game 7. Marty was a beast in that series until game 7. There wouldn't have been a game 7 if Crapper is in net.

Marty was good in Games 1 through 4, lights out in Game-5, not so much in Games 6 & 7.

Like I said we'll never know either way.
Was Marty 100% is another question.

You forgot Prust.
He's good enough to play all 3 forward positions.

You can throw Steckel in there, too. Could use the face off wins.

Right, let's make a complete line up of completely overrated Devils missed draft picks and sure thing signings.

XXXX - XXXX - XXXX
XXXX - XXXX - XXXX
XXXX - XXXX - XXXX
Prust - Steckel - XXXX

Stralman - Fraser
Carlson - XXXX

Clemmensen gave up a mind numbingly soft goal in almost every game that season. People see his save percentage, and say ''Yeah he was as good as Marty''. In reality he gave up bad goals through the 5 hole off faceoffs so much, didn't know what rebound control was, and he was a nightmare some games. Remember when we were beating the Rangers 5-1, and he gave up some bad goals, and the tied it? The weekend afternoon game against the Sharks where we won 6-5 comes to mind also. Or the game against the Caps that Ovy tied in the last second. He stopped everything in the shootout, but was brutal in regulation.

Marty was way better that two years prior, and that 08/09 team scored 40+ more goals than the season before. That's a half a goal more per game. Pretty significant if you ask me.

Instead of wasting the mental energy now, I'm sure a quick read through tomorrow's GDT will fill that sucker right up.

Except I don't read GDTs now. Self imposed rule.

Just wait until the 'OMGZ we should have kept Mark Fraser!' thread...you know that's coming soon.

Fraser is plus 16. He is put in there when they are guarding a lead in the last minute. He logs heavy minutes and he does basically everything including fighting.

Not saying at all that we should have kept him but all those that were nailing him as the suckiest of suck as a 7th D could be a little humble about what they know about hockey, that's for sure.

Another NJ kid that Conte & crew passed over this time in the 2009 draft, Kyle Palmieri, has a hat trick already tonight for the Ducks.

Josefson still has a lot of time to prove he was the right pick, but at this point it sure doesn't look like it.

Palmieri has 7 goals already this season.

Fraser did suck when he played with us. Though there are a lot of examples of players who sucked with us or any team, but were better with another team.

Wings keep giving Kings 5 on 3s. They've yet to score.

Anyway.... about this Wings/Kings game.
I hate games played all on special teams.

Very solid hockey analysis. :handclap:

Refreshing to read compared to a lot of the usual copy cat comments regarding some players.

Mark was never really given a fair shake here, he's a great kid and I am one of his bigger fans. I won't be able to root for him 3 times this season, but other than those games I hope he nails it.

He's strong as an ox, has good wheels and a good head on his shoulders.

Our whole fourth line was composed of such players last playoffs.

There's generally not many players that the Devils give up on who go on to become successes elsewhere though. If Fraser's an anomaly, good for him, he was always willing to get his nose dirty and stick up for teammates at least, though yeah he wasn't a very good player here. I still remember him getting plastered in the Flyer series by someone (Gagne or Carter maybe) and then benched.

From a statistical point of view, it looks like Fraser is nothing more than a 3rd pairing defence-man.

12 minutes TOI at even strength
Negative quality of competition
53% offensive zone starts
And also an irrational 1159 PDO lol (98% on-ice SV% and 18% on-ice Sh%)

But that's just some numbers. If he's doing well, good for him, he's a good kid.

Alright, enough with the sarcasm, overrated/missed draft picks talk. Don't want to see where it leads and this week has been ripe with enough negativity already. Plus, this is not the thread for such a discussion.

Well I don't think Fraser's getting any power play time, so any extra time is on the PK. He got 19:38 tonight for what that's worth, fourth on the team among defensemen, but their TOI seemed ridiculously evened out tonight only ranging from Phaneuf's 22:17 to Franson's 17:32.

I'm not much for the 'hidden' stats normally, but a 98% save pct jumps off the page lol. Yeah his plus/minus seems to be an anomaly but at least he's establishing himself as an NHL regular.
