anyone who thought parise wasn't worth his contract this year are kidding themselves.
anyone who thinks he will still be worth that contract when he's 35 is also, most likely, kidding themselves.

Kind of. Cap hit wise, I agree 100%. I just don't think Parise is the type of player that should be earning 14M in one year. Even on a pro-rated lockout salary, I think he earns something like 13.6 because of his signing bonus.

He's a very good player who understands the game, but once his motor goes his game goes with it. He's good enough positionally to play bottom 6 minutes well into his late 30's, but ask Ranger fans if they were happy paying Drury to do that.

I forgot about the matinee games happening today.

Winnipeg & Boston should be a good one.

Tampa vs NYI should be entertaining on some level.

Don't know which one to watch.

So, a funny little episode yesterday. I was driven to the airport by a nice old lady and we talked a bit hockey. Turned out her daughter had at one point held a quite high position in the NHL organization, and so one of her daughter's friends married Chris Pronger and they were all at the wedding. And the old lady goes "he is such a shy and quiet man".

Shy and quiet?

 Not really surprised. Athletes are so different on the ice and off the ice. Hartnell is the biggest ******* in the league on the ice. I heard he was the nicest player off the ice, and I didn't believe it until I met him after Operation Hat Trick. It holds up. He is a genuine and very friendly person.

As a Mets fan, I love listening to Howie Rose on TV. Almost makes Islander games watchable.

Wow. One second into the game and two fights in stereo. Thanks, NYI.

Lazy MSG. They were going to commercial and it still had the Devils listed as the visiting team on the scoreboard for a few seconds.

I'd be happy to play the Islanders again instead of the Flyers or Caps.

Yes, I remember Hartnell's father being interviewed during a game and he seemed to be the most adorable person ever.

yeah, Hartnell is awesome off the ice from everything I've heard. It's always the pest players who are the nicest and the clean players who are the dicks lol

Winnipeg's transition game is kind of a mess. I just watched them spend 30 seconds skating between their blue line and the center line, unable to go forward. Boston applying a good forecheck.

Great play by Seguin at the blue line and he sets up Marchand. 1-1. Chara and Dougie Hamilton are a ****ing massive pairing.

Boston is all over Winnipeg right now, and I haven't seen Winnipeg get out above the red line since the last time I posted.

Edit: There they go. Even got a shot off.
