I don't care about attendance. My point is that we are still historically the better team, and it's ludicrous for Isles fans to suddenly be pulling rank on us.
Maybe in five years if (and this is a big if) they have achieved consistent success and we're floundering in a post-Lou rebuild, then they'll have a point. But not yet.
In my view of it, they really can't talk until they win another cup. The majority of the people that would try to "pull rank" either weren't alive when they last one, or were at a very young age. At least, I'm going to go on the assumption that you won't have too many 40+ year olds pulling that card. That being the case, the people that are talking crap are ones who have never seen their team win one. Being the more successful team for a few year stretch is nice and all, but that's like if Rangers fans were trying to pull that card on Devils fans before last season, when the Devils hadn't gone too far in the playoffs for most of the previous decade. For Islanders and Rangers fans (and plenty of other franchises), I want to see them win something, or at the bare minimum, play for a cup, before they try smack talking a team that has been in the finals 5 times since their teams were once.
