If management was ever truly concerned about Spezza's back problems going forward, Barkov+Forsberg would be next best thing.

Why would Nashville do this? The only team really looking for a push over the top with a player like that, that has pieces is St Louis.

And since they likely aren't there's no need to even think about it

How do you know? Just curious, people speculate things on this board all the time why not consider his prime doesn't matchup with the majority of this organization.

I don't know that they aren't, I said they likely aren't

The only reason they would be worried would be based on professional medical advice and we wouldn't know about it

So I'm taking the positive attitude, unless I hear something about this I'm going to assume there's no reason to be worried about Spezza's short term back issues

He'll miss games here and there but there's nothing to indicate that there should be a concern about rapidly deteriorating condition so why assume that there is?

The only reason people feel this way is because of his injury this year: people recover, look at Mogilny or Selanne.

You plan for the worst but you don't always act on it either

Yeah he's on the older side of the team but he's still our best forward in terms of production, that's much more significant than him being 29 years old (hell I'm 29!)

Get a chuckle out of this board!!!

According to some the Sens need to worry about Spezza's ROI on his next contract because he will be 31 and due to surgery to repair a herniated disk he may decline.

At the same time others are all for adding a 35 year old Biere who hasn't played a full season in years, suggesting it is a good investment.

Hey I am all for the positive approach but for some reason I have a weird feeling about it. I just hope he can maintain this level of play for the next 5 years. The majority of this organizations main pieces wont hit their prime for atleast 3 years.

Count me in on the first group, obviously if they are signing players like Brier they aren't moving spezza.

Listen im born in 83 too, I know exactly how old he is I played a few tournies against him back in the day. He is actually 30 (just turned in April, I know because im dreading mine in july 3 more weeks of my 20's better make em count)

Maybe it is time to start another panic thread for people who take Bryan Murray's statement about trading prospects for scoring forwards to mean that we need to trade our best scoring forward for prospects, and for those who take "we are not moving either of our goalies" to mean we should move our best goalie.

Someone on the main board posted something that I did not even consider.

Briere has a full NMC. In order to move him they would have to get his permission and if he is going to move, he isnt going to want to do it on the tail diving portion of his contract, he is going to want a new one for more money.

besides the other theories, my guess is because he has a ntc or nmc and he'd make more money on the open market than what his actual salary would be for the last year(s) of his contract. the team and him probably agreed to just by him out so he could get more money and the flyers would get the contract off the books. the other reasons (fewer options because of the contract, he deserves to choose where he goes) works into the two parties agreeing.

of course, the NMC. Thanks dudes.

Murray on working with teams that have cap issues:

"I think there are a couple of teams that may have to, I've talked to one or two already but nobody is in a hurry. That doesn't come in to play for some time. We'll continue to talk and hopefully see there might be somebody there. If not, we've got a pretty good group of young players. I'd like to add one more player but we'll see what happens."

I really doubt he makes a move Im excepting same roster but healthy. Hopefully a surprise or 2 from some young blood

If Alfie retires he makes a moved guaranteed. Even if he doesn't I think he'll probably try and sign or trade for a forward.

Greening Spezza Stone
Michalek Turris Havlat
Silfverberg Zibanejad Alfie

Not into bringing in another injury prone player. Imagine a first line of Michalek-Spezza-Havlat. Would be amazing, but it's likely we lose our whole first line for a chunk of the season.

Yeah u feel like sens see a lot of talent in our prospect and truly are starting to believe after the Nash deal and what not that building through prospects is the best way to go.

That's the feel this team is giving off.

Seriously why is anyone suggesting we move Spezza?

And for a crappy player like Granlund who will never be a full time NHL'er?

That's harsh to say about Granlund

the main piece is the 4th Jonas Bro

Brodin is good, but not even close to getting Spezza. And sorry, but I said 2 years ago Granlund would bust, he's too small, and doesn't skate well enough, not to mention a Fin. He played in an inferior league.

The hype around Granlund the past 2 years was sickening to read. Like vomit horrible. I am glad he had a horrible year this year and was sent down. Has really cooled off his hype train.

OK, Granlund may not be a 1st liner but to say he won't play in the NHL is unfair. He's younger than Silf still and the only league he hasn't played that well in yet is the NHL. He'll get there. He played well in the AHL and might have been tossed into a role he wasn't ready for yet in the NHL.

Brodin is a top pair guy in Minnesota and top 4 on any team in the league. Beast.
