If the Jets think that, they'd be crazy to trade him.

The jets have a glut of very good rhd, but if they lose Hainsey in FA, they're weak on the left besides Enstrom. DZ could be a good fit for them. He saves them money and allows them to let Hainsey go and save cap space from his contract. Proven player that can continue to grow for a prospect with similar ceiling and a player whose on the outs (it would seem) there. Addresses needs on both blue lines, assuming winnipeg is looking to add a pmd to the left side.

Whose to say either of those players are available? Or that the value of the trade isn't completely off. I'm not a genius, by any means, but I'd like to see a prospect like Redmond on the roster, and I like to think the right environment could be a huge benefit to Burmi.

I'm just going by what I've read about Redmond according to the people on HF following Jets prospects. He's 24 years old and he's played a total of 8 NHL games. I just don't see how he can be penciled in and expected to score 30-40 points next season. The Rangers aren't rebuilding, at least as far as management is concerned.

If I'm traded Del Zotto I want something proven back.

the idea is he would play the shutdown 3C role that AV wants to have. Which Brass and Richie are incapable of doing.

I'm sure the Rangers would rather develop Lindberg to fill that role rather than trading for a player to fill it and losing assets in the process...

The new CBA has an interview period. Potential free agents are allowed to talk with other teams before free agency opens. They can't sign a contract until free agency opens. This year its July 3 and 4. This Wednesday.

1. Let's talk about the cap a little. I've for a long time been sceptical of the low cap projections the coming years. Now there are several rumblings in line with what I've projected for 14/15 and 15/16.

If those are true, all teams in this league will have an abundance of capspace and there will be a great shortage of players. You need good players, and by far the most good players play in the NHL and ie are not obtained through trades. Look at the latest dynastys Colorado, Detroit and NJ. UFA has been one of two legs all those teams have stood on.

Lecavalier at 5m per is a steal in a environment where a Jiri Hudler or Cammalleri gets 5.5-6m per.

2. People are negative going into next season. But we do have a core. Many are overrating the glorified players on Chi/Bos/LAK something tremendously. I am not sure I love the style of our depth, but in terms of some kind of objective value we have alot of it throughout the lineup.

But if it is one flaw we have it's offense and especially the PP. Brassard, Stepan, Cally, Brass, Kreider, JT Miller, Nash, Hagelin and co can all play. They are good players. They are far from Dawes II or Prucha II or Marcel Hossa II. But, if we do nothing, our PP will still struggle next season...

Lecavalier gives us a top playmaker down low, and that is what Brad Richards needs. All of a sudden we only have one shortage on our PP (a right handed PPQB).

Lecavalier helps our PP a ton.

3. Lecavalier is a great center for so many type of wingers if you get what I mean. Big, strong, good on FOs, very good playmaker, shoots well.

He is no savior. The agility and skating just isn't there. But for 5 years to come he would undoubedtly help wingers on 2nd/3rd lines. Put them over the top.

4. You can't have too many centers.

Your nuts. 5 million a year for 5 years for a guy who is old, isn't that good any longer and is already getting paid is absurd. I wouldn't offer him any more than 2 years at 2 million. That's it.

Additonally I'd look to see if Vinny would be open to play wing.

Hagelin - Richards - Callahan
Fasth - Lindberg - Dorsett

with Hagelin and Callahan on that third line you have the 2-way line AV was referring to. It's also a line that COULD be dangerous offensively should Richards regain his play making abilities.

While Vinny is no 10 million dollar guy, he is a solid 60+ point scoring forward that can and will score 20-25 goals a year with 25+ assists per season.

Can be physical when he wants to be. Getting to the age where his end is in sight. Guys like this start to do everything they can to win games. A veteran that's plays very well in the PO's

would be a solid addition.

Dead weight contracts ? That are being paid the going rate for players of their caliber, I diss like Boyle playing out of his capabilities just as much as you with torts. But these players don't have 3/4 million dollar contacts

one dimensional players are dead weight.

Boyle is a decent PK'er, 4th liner being forced to play an offensive role.

He doesn;t have the vision to be a center to get his line mates involved in the offence. He doesn't have the finishing ability to be a scoring center either.

He's a defensive player that provides minimal offence.

One dimensional.

Pyatt, Powe and Asham are worse.

All four of them make over a million a year.

Interesting that Lebrun says the following about the Clowe decision:

The New York Rangers were shopping the rights to pending UFA winger Ryane Clowe on Sunday. The Rangers actually really like the player but the decision to not buy out Brad Richards has left them with next to no cap room and certainly not enough to re-sign Clowe, who is headed to the open market.

Nothing in here about Clowe's upper-body troubles, but that's not surprising given that they are trying to unload him.

agreed. instead of trying to move Clowe, they should have packaged 2 of these guys in a deal (personally, i'd send out Pyatt and Powe) for some picks or something. the bottom six is really gonna struggle again if those 3 are in the line up regularly.

Powe should have been traded for a draft pick in 2014 or 2015.. Powe is getting 1.15next year and for what he brings, that is overpaid..... Boyle will be making 1.8 next year.. also dead weight... rather have Lindberg and Miller take their spots on the roster at half the price.
