agreed. instead of trying to move Clowe, they should have packaged 2 of these guys in a deal (personally, i'd send out Pyatt and Powe) for some picks or something. the bottom six is really gonna struggle again if those 3 are in the line up regularly.

there is a serious problem if Miller and Lindberg does not make the team out of camp over the 2 out of Powe Asham and Boyle :help:

i completely agree. what happens to those guys if Miller and Lindberg DO make it, though? what do we do with Pyatt/Powe/Asham/Boyle? i think BB is worth keeping around, for faceoff and defensive purposes, despite his cap hit. and Asham, as much as you guys might not like him, and as much as his back might not like him anymore, he did things for us in the playoffs. he doesn't have to play a full 82 game season. i'd like him as the spare forward. but the other 2? no thanks.

Can't with the new CBA. Up to 900k I believe.

They can still be buried, but anything above 925k counts against the cap. That amount goes up as the league minimum goes up. Asham's cap hit is 1 mil. Powe's is 1.067 mil. Asham in Hartford would count 75k against the cap.

According to some Nashville guys on the main trade board Ellis is available for a top six forward. Hagelin? Then we can pull the trigger on a Staal deal that gets us an elite forward.

Hell no. Why are people always throwing Hagelin into trades? We need more players like him, not less.

NHL minimum salary plus $375,000. Its $550,000 in 13-14. $925,000. Minimum salaries will increase during the CBA.

Switch Boyle with Dorsett and I may agree, but they do have some sort of use for the 4th line. Not necessarily the complete energy line we need, but they're servicable players. Boyle is better than all three.

Dorsett is more needed on this team. Rangers need that player to get those superstars like Kovalchuk Crosby off of their game.. watch Dorsett once Rangers play Devils... Rangers fans will love it when Kovalchuk and Dorsett each get 2 for roughing and Rangers score on the 4 on 4

Boyle stinks; Dorsett does not. Dorsett >> Boyle

I don't know about more needed... For more energy, definitely.

I agree with everything else. Dorsett is a great fourth liner. I just think Boyle can give us more all around on the 4th line.

Solid debate.

That would be a novelty...

Edler primary point man in Van for Vigneault. NYR not in yet but likely to be involved.

I don't see the Rangers making a trade for him. The cost will only be higher now that Van cleared cap space with the Schneider trade. And he's yet another LH dman. His cap hit is 5 mil per year, so we'd have to move significant salary to fit him in.

Cost would be very high.

I concur. They were asking for a huge return. They weren't pushing to move him but if the right deal came along they would (Case could be said for most players).

I like Edler but we need the other side addressed.

Also from Books article:

http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/nhlbl...an_faulk_t2asVGtZoRa3J219mKNgQO#axzz2XntCAjRe

Edler has six years at $5M per remaining on his contract, a number the Rangers would have great difficulty accomodating under the cap

This is another issue. Let me reiterate, 5M X 6YRS.

Kyper tweeted VAN wanted 2 NHL roster players and a #1 pick for Edler. Very steep price. That's why he wasn't traded. Wings,Ducks and Habs were interested. Habs mnade an offer.

Rangers should keep Del Zotto and give him one more year to see if he become a PMD under AV. Fix the bottom 6

At this point, that is what seems to be happening. Although I am starting to doubt whether they will fix the bottom-6 or just let people battle it out.

Right now they have 7 D but we are not sure who the heck would play RD

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Moore
Del Zotto, Stralman
Falk

It's not bad. I honestly like the D if everyone is healthy and if McIlrath develops its a big bonus later in the yr.

G will be the same with King and Biron

So really only changes will be at F. Yea I agree Pyatt, Powe can be moved out. Especially Pyatt at 1.5. not gonna cry if Powe is a spare

I don't get why everyone is on Asham. He got some goals in the playoffs, he can fight and they need a guy who can drop the gloves. Fine with Haley getting a shot too but it will be good to have a few guys around that can drop them. Falk helps in that regard too.
