In practice, we don't want to use the bonus cushion if we don't have to. The old cap calculator used to have an option to not use the bonus cushion in the calculations, but I don't see that option in the new one.

I seem to remember something about the bonus cushion always being in place in the new CBA. The only thing bonuses really change things now is when calculating to the floor, where they cannot be used. My memory is murky on the full details of what exactly changed, though.
