Horrible contract. 3rd liners who are "winners" and "playoff performers" once again getting ridiculously overpaid. And probably would have gotten more as a FA.

The no cap room thing is a myth anyway. We have 20M to spend including the summer cap. If we're a bit over we can get rid of contracts later to lower spending teams that need help hitting the floor and such.

From what I have on my spreadsheet, we have about $18MM.

We still have to sign Stepan, Hagelin, Zuccarello, McDonagh, and now Falk.

Then we have to get under the cap for next season.

It's 14M+10% of 64M isn't it? so 20.4M?

In the off-season, you count all one-way contracts even if they are in the AHL, which if you're looking at Capgeek, they aren't including Michael Haley and Stu Bickel. Also, you include all two-way contracts in proportion to how many days they were on the roster. Capgeek isn't including JT Miller's 64 days on the roster, Kris Newbury's 12, or Christian Thomas' 3.

So the Rangers roster shakes out as this:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
MZA-Brassard-Callahan
Pyatt-Boyle-Dorsett
Kreider-Richards-Asham

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Stralman

I see one average 1rst line, an average/below average 2nd line and 2 4th lines. The defense is good though. Should make for some nice low scoring games.

Nice.

If the Rangers are planning on playing Richards on the 4th line, they would have bought him out instead.

U wanna kick my dog while ur at it?

Meh. That reasoning is getting overused IMO. I take it with a grain of salt. He'll establish his lines using what he's got

He can't implement his famous zone deployment tactics with Brad Richards or Derrick Brassard as the 3C. One of them need to start shifts in their own end. Neither are capable players. Boyle is much better suited for that role and I feel more comfortable with him out there. Unless one of Brass/BRich convert to wing and displace Hags/Nash/Callahan/MZA.
