Every summer is the summer of the overpaid powerforward/physical defenseman.

why cant the Rangers develop their own power forward or trade for a young one??? the last power forward NYR had was Adam Graves.... Bruins have Lucic and Horton, Flyers Hartnell and Simmonds, Stars have Benn (5th round pick), Ducks have Perry, Kings have Brown.. all other teams can deveolp their own, why cant NYR and no Kreider is not a power forward.. size dont make you a power forward....

He is good for ~18 points a year or ~20 points over 82 games. That's an effective 4th line player offensively.



Fair enough.

I just feel it isn't cost efficient to invest that money on an injury prone 4th line player. Especially when you have similar plugs like Dorsett already occupying his 'role'.

I'd take a peak Hemsky easily over Callahan. But you can't compare players solely on playoff numbers. You have to look at what players have done lately as well to formulate a good evaluation on them. In the case of Pyatt, he's been good in the playoffs for the past few years.

When comparing the past couple of seasons, Tootoo's stats in the regular season surpass the great Taylor Pyatt offensively.

The Black Hawks have one forward under 5 - 11, 190 in their line up.

The Rangers need to compliment the likes of Callahan, Hagelin, Stepan and Nash with bigger, tougher more physical players that can put the puck in the net.

Aquiring any of Coyle, Matthias, Foligno would be a huge plus for this team.

Lol, I'm not even a fan of Pyatt, in fact, I was probably one of the few that hated it: (All from Pyatt signing thread where people were deluded into thinking he was a 3rd line player)

Another grinder. No skill.

Mueller, Mitchell. Hell I would rather have Wellman on the team.

Tippet trusts Pyatt against teams 2nd lines, but his possession numbers were brutal. I expect the team to be heavily outshot when he is on the ice.

Pyatt is not an upgrade on Mitchell IMO.

He caught lightning in a bottle in playoffs. Unsustainable shooting percentage. Not gritty, doesn't use his size, can't possess puck = useless player.

Mind boggling how people believe stone hands Pyatt can replace a stud rookie like Hagelin. I'm gonna hate it when he's traded for Nash.

I know too well of the greatness from Pyatt.

But even then, the upgrade will be marginal at best and I think Tootoo with his undisciplined playing style is a liability.

I have to ask a question, have you wondered why a much more talented player like Tootoo never reaches the ice time of Pyatt all these years? Discipline is key.

Hockey is a physical sport. I'll take the slightly less disciplined 4th liner over Pyatt. I value that side of he sport. I would rather have them on the Rangers than on the other side and I am sick of seeing guys like Cooke, Ruutu, Rinaldo, Boulton run around with no answer from the Rangers.

Prust is a unique player. But many very good teams employ players like Tootoo. They can be valuable especially in the playoffs.

Rangers should target guys like Matt Beleskey, Kyle Clifford, Justin Abdelkader, Maxim Pierre type players this off season... guys that can play and provide a spark with a big hit or a fight whenever the team needs a wakeup

That's not really true. He's injury prone, but I wouldn't say he lacks competitiveness.

No he's a pretty bad puck possession player due to his inability to carry play on his stick, but he serves as a nice complimentary board player. Like I said, the only thing he's good at.
