You have to be kidding me. Not only will Zuccarello not get offersheeted, but we really do need to resign him. He's been a spark to the team, like Hagelin/Kreider last year. He also belongs in the top six more than Callahan. Cally would explode on a proper 3rd line that can score.

I agree Callahan would be the ultimate third liner, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree about MZA. I'm just not a huge fan of his game or small Euro's in general.

BRONX NYC
Henrick, McD, Stepan, Nash, Callahan

That is the core

Do we have the pieces from there to get the second pick from Florida?

NOPE!

Would be dumb unless the organization also decides to trade Hank, signaling a true rebuild.

You don't trade a 23 yr old dman in a rebuild.. Girardi/Staal/Stralman would be the D to go in a rebuild. McDonagh is going to be this team's go to dman for the next 10years.

I am pro trade Del Zotto. You could get a decent pick for him despite his poor play this year.

I can see Girardi going, but Staal? Because of the eye injury?

Also it would make more sense if I said Lundqvist as opposed to McDonagh. You're right, it would probably be a lateral move to trade him in a rebuild.

I see Staal moving only to Carolina, partly because of the injury and partly because of his brothers. Trading Staal would bring back alot! Considering what Pitt got for Jordan, I think NYR would get more for Staal, 1st round pick, Murphy, and a roster player?

Don't want Torres. Would love Ryder but I doubt he doesn't resign with the Habs/they give him up/etc

I haven't thought a ton beyond names yet, so don't bother overreacting to just throwing the names out there, but these are the forwards on the UFA list that strike me as interesting at first glance:

LW
Torres
MacArthur
Raymond
Bickell

C
Bozak
Filppula
McDonald
Gordon

RW
Horton
Brunner
Boyes
Ryder
Stallberg

This team needs that type of player/personality

someone that is intent on getting after the game. To many passive players, we need guys that are going to initiate contact, dictate pace and tempo. Guys that set the tone.

Torres does that.

Thank you for that. I'd say get 'em now. He is a nice asset.

I kind of like those, especially Bickell, Horton, Ryder, and Bozak.

I do agree that we've become rather passive, but I just don't like him. It's most likely irrational though from a few times I've seen him play. But if he's more of that sort of player, I'd say we should try bringing him in.

Flippula is a guy I want depending on contract, does everything well, only 28, can play wing or give us talent down the middle

Again, same situation. Don't overreact to throwing out names, but these are the defensemen that strike me as interesting at first glance.

Ian White
Alexander Sulzer
Ben Lovejoy
Ryan O'Byrne
Tyson Strachan

These 5 guys all share one thing in common.

This team could be a contender if we traded for a top winger and signed Flippula after buying out Brich..something like this....... hagelin-stepan-nash.. winger-flippula/brass-callahan. kreider-flippula/brass-zucc. ?-boyle-dorsett.. with our D and Hank? that's a contender imo

Torres would be a great add. I like Pyatt, but Torres is a 3rd line player. He'd be playing on the fourth line, could move up if someone struggles. The guy has skill, he can put up 30-35 point seasons.
