Just saw this tweet

John Davidson in the box here in Pittsburgh. Short drive from Columbus to see his old Rangers face the Penguins.
Looks like we are in some discussions with the Pens, the question is about who? Still can't see it being JJ, maybe Tyutin?
I'm not seeing "trade" there. It's JD, not JK. More likely it's a chance to see two of our future division opponents and thus get a handle for what the team should be prepared to handle.Just saw this tweet

Depends on how big a role you perceive JD to have. Is he the highest man on the totem poll in all aspects like an NFL president (think Holmgren for Browns last few years) or is he something else?

how has Brassard looked playing wing? is he better suited at LW or RW? do you think adopting the role of a playmaking winger along with lessened defensive responsibilities would improve his overall game?
Well there were the reports that JK was watching some Pens game a few weeks ago.
But the man himself stated that he was just hanging out with he's old buddy Shero.
Should the CBJ sweep Nashville next week and climb into serious playoff contention, will Jarmo trade for a goal scorer? (not a rental, a long term contributor)

At this point I think that this is going to be the only trade we will see. If we are in a playoff position at the deadline I think we will package assets to add a scorer to the "core". Possibly something like Tyutin for Matt Read+.
Read's a valuable guy, but he's like a lot of versatile guys we have, not really giving us the top line goal scorer we need. But if Philly wants Tyutin enough (And they should! All that talent wasted playing in front of Philly's defense!), then we might get more...
I think we're either selling, or staying pat. No sense in breaking up the chemistry this team has built ...not to mention we would just have to trade away future assets.
I agree that I don't think we'll see any sort of "rental" trade. I can see one of the rare "hockey trades" such as the Methot for Foligno deal or movement of a package to get a piece that management believes will can help long term. (Something like Brassard+Nikitin for a Paul Stastny or a scoring winger like Pominville)
Do you think we should have interest in any of this summer's bought-out free agents? I haven't done a full inventory, but just looking at Minnesota and the Rangers' cap situations you can tell Heatley is getting bought out as well as Brad Richards unless there is a huge salary dump trade. I'd say no to Heatley, probably no to Richards... who else might be available?
Yeah...
Remember when Holmgren told Jeff Carter and the media that he absolutely wasn't trading him. About those sort of things...
As of right now, we have every reason to believe Jarmo and what he says. But it's not like he's going to come out and say "Yeah, we were talking to them about trading away..."
Seriously, be realistic. Anything is possible. It's very possible that it was just a friendly visit. But it's also very possible that something is in the works. We just don't know.
In all honesty, I think the Rangers trade Gabby regardless, and if this season gets any further out of hand they may move MDZ as well. I think Richards gets bought out as you said. With that much cap room I think the Rangers after a disappointing year become major players for Perry. They have more than enough real $ to throw around and are one of the few franchises who like the wings doesn't rebuild they just reload.
And on a side not if my doomsday prediction does happen all the TV revenue in the world isn't gonna help against our new division's top guys...
NYR: Nash+ Perry
Pitt: Crosby + Malkin
Carolina: The Staals
Philly: Giroux
Islanders: Tavares
NJ: Kovalchuk
