Apparently Pominville asked to provide list of 8 teams he will not accept a trade to under his limited NTC. At 30 years old he's probably on the older side of the age range that Jarmo would be looking at, but he is signed beyond this year.

I think the odds are low that the Jackets would trade for him, but stranger things have happened.

Realistic Trades for Jackets at the Deadline

Just wanted some of your guys' insight on trades you could see the Jackets making in the coming days and why? The only rumor I've heard so far is that they have been dangling one of their 3 1sts

Montreal has had interest in D David Savard for a while now. John Moore being a frequent scratch gets ya thinking, too.

Habs fan here. Can you guys give me an insight on that? Who is he, is he an asset you guys would trade, what would it cost us? Thanks !

I think one of the 3 young D men have to go, Savard, Erixon or Moore

How would you guys feel about Getting Yannick Weber from the Habs for Savard and a 2014 pick?

You guys get a guy who's more NHL ready right now while we get a guy who's waiver exempt giving us a bit more flexibility.

How would you guys feel about w Erixon/Moore for Paarjarvi deal? Pieces could be added or subtracted but that would be a good ground to start.

Tampa fan suggested Purcell in the thread on the mains. This is the right direction IMO.

Ive always liked purcell i wouldnt mind him in a cbj sweater.

Off topic but i just traded umby for brett connolly in nhl 13. If only we could take that cap dump and still get a young prospect with some really high upside in real life.

I'd be more apt to try and trade a veteran defenseman to shed some cap space and give younger guys playing time next year, though I can see doing both that and trading Savard. I think with the play of other young d-men (even before factoring in Murray) has pushed Savard way down the depth chart.

See above. If we're trading Savard, I think we are trading to address our needs at forward or, possibly, to get another goaltender assuming Mason is moved. Weber does nothing to help us.

Interesting. I like it better if Moore is the guy shipped, to be honest. I don't know that Edmonton does it (though Howson certainly has a history with both players). Difficult to trade with a team you are competing with a playoff spot with. I wonder if a guy like Niederreiter or another "change of scenery" forward could be of interest in a Savard/Moore trade. If so, I'd expect it to be an off-season move and not a trade deadline deal.

I think Nikitin could be a guy to go instead of Moore or Erixon. Don't know the construct to the deal but that could be a possibility. I wanted PRV before he started to put the puck in the net on the NHL level. Although some say he's still a 3rd line forward long term....

Here is a pool of five CBJ players that are most likely to be among those traded (not those I think SHOULD be traded):

1. Aucoin
2. Moore
3. Savard
4. Nikitin
5. Umberger

One name that jumps out to me is Chris Stewart with the Blues. Obviously the JD connection is there but I recall reading the Blues could move him. He's a RW, power forward and can score. He's also 25 years old. I'm tying this in with moving one of our 1st's this year and likely a d-man and prospect (Nikitin, Savard?). Wishful thinking I'm sure.

Another intriguing team would be Ottawa. Savard for Noesen (may be a little longer range but asset for asset? I'd also like to take a shot at one of their young roster players like Silfverberg or Zibanejad.

One last team to think about with an apparent abundance of offensive talent is Philly. Simmonds? Schenn? We know they need defense!

Something to consider.
1. If you're competing with the CBJ for a playoff spot this year, why would you trade with us? (Detroit, San Jose, St Louis, Dallas, Edmonton, Phoenix)
2. If you could meet Columbus in the playoffs, why would you trade with us? (Chicago, Anaheim, Minnesota, Vancouver, LA)
3. If you're going to be in the same division with the CBJ next year, why would you trade with us? (NYR. NYI, Philly, Pittsburgh, Carolina, New Jersey, Washington)

That narrows the field quite a bit.

Leaving you with:
Colorado, Calgary, Florida, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Toronto, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa and Boston.

The guy on Philly's roster that has what we need is - ironically - Jakub Voracek.

EDIT: But wait! If a deal is cooking with Philly, it's probably Matt Read. He played during the lockout with Södertälje - whose goalie is Anton Forsberg.

I don't feel anybody wants to give up what it takes for our firsts. So I see us standing pat, maybe making a low key kind of deal.

Surely not guys who are still in the race. Maybe later but not at the deadline. And guys not in aren't going to want to give up good long term guys . I tend to agree any deal will be low key but as sellers we have a better chance of a big deal than as buyers.

Let's run a line of Calvert - Bouchard - Atkinson. Maybe we can trade for Gerbe too.

Yeesh.

My top Flyer I wanted (besides Giroux/Voracek/Couturier) was Talbot who broke his leg yesterday. Unlikely Schenn gets moved because he's on a team with his brother. Read is another mighty mite I would prefer to avoid. Leaves Wayne Simmonds I guess.

Colorado and Philly seem to make the most sense to me. Outside chances to Florida, Calgary, and Tampa unless someone decides to throw the towel in early and drop out of the playoff race.
