Everyone's getting great value for selling their pieces off, and Calgary's getting damn near nothing for the two biggest moves being made so far.

And I for one feel completely justified in having referred to Feaster as the greatest fool in the NHL repeatedly ever since the Brad Richards trade. :)

Eklund is such a boob. There is less than a 1% chance of this happening...

Brick by brick, Ek, brick by brick.

Jagr actually could be part of the brick building depending on how you look at it. Look at what he did last year in Philly for Voracek and Giroux. I don't advocate a 1st for him as a rental though so there would have to be an extension involved.

text from a source makes a ton of sense.."Columbus in on Jagr."

If he costs less than a first and we can re-sign him in the off-season? I'd be for it. Would make those Pens games even more fun next year and he's been a positive influence on the young guys on both of the teams he's been with the last two seasons.

I want Purcell. Most of these guys I wouldn't give close to a 1st for. I'd do the Kings 1st for Purcell, easy.

#BlueJackets are interested in #Flames forward Cammalleri. They're willing to trade one of their first round picks.

No thanks. Brick by brick, Jarmo, brick by brick.

This is the most patient CBJ fans have been in a long while, so enjoy it. Sell if a steal is there but no buying vets with first rounders.

Yep, don't want Cammy unless the Flames eat a good portion of that salary. Even then, not young enough. Purcell is really the only player catching my eye. Or Pominville if the price is right.

How would you guys feel about w Erixon/Moore for Paarjarvi deal? Pieces could be added or subtracted but that would be a good ground to start.

I'd do Moore + third rounder for Paajarvi. You really have to add because Paajarvi has developed a good all around hitting-forechecking game this year, and he's valuable even when he isn't scoring. I think he'll soon be a second line winger.

I think Nikitin could be a guy to go instead of Moore or Erixon. Don't know the construct to the deal but that could be a possibility. I wanted PRV before he started to put the puck in the net on the NHL level. Although some say he's still a 3rd line forward long term....

Edmonton would want a lot of our defencemen, including Nikitin, but we'd have to add a lot to Nikitin to get Paajarvi.
Maybe Nikitin + 2nd rounder + 4th rounder for Paajarvi?

One name that jumps out to me is Chris Stewart with the Blues. Obviously the JD connection is there but I recall reading the Blues could move him. He's a RW, power forward and can score. He's also 25 years old. I'm tying this in with moving one of our 1st's this year and likely a d-man and prospect (Nikitin, Savard?). Wishful thinking I'm sure.

Mid first + Savard for Stewart.
That might work this summer! Chris Stewart is everything we need. A first line power forward scorer, gritty, young and I think a couple more RFA years.

David Perron, with 3 yrs left at $3.8M AAV, gets my vote as most likely to be dealt now in STL.

What do people think?

He's soft and fragile, but he'd add more scoring ability to our lineup than anyone on our current roster has. Not sure what I'd give up though.

I know they just signed him to an extension, but I'd be interested in Pacioretty. He could be the 30 goal power forward LW we need. He's young and locked up to a fairly reasonable 6 year deal.

Would they consider something around Brassard and Savard for Pacioretty?

Sure, as long as we throw in Johansen.:sarcasm:

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 32m

Montreal has had interest in D David Savard for a while now. John Moore being a frequent scratch gets ya thinking, too.

Habs fan here. Can you guys give me an insight on that? Who is he, is he an asset you guys would trade, what would it cost us? Thanks !

Yes, you can have him. Maybe for a second rounder, or a similarly valued forward prospect. Savard's a big scorer, but is either (1)still out of shape, (2)too lazy to learn skating right, (3)or incapable of learning to skate right. Either way he needs out.

A thought came thru at lunch, with the cap coming down, what could we fetch with a package of Moore, Brass, and LA's 1st???

I want to trade that package too! It won't get us much now, unfortunately. In the summer I'd hope we could get Bobby Ryan for it. Do you think it would suffice?

Remember: If Purcell comes here, he doesn't get to play alongside Stamkos or Lecavalier...
I always considered this when just looking at his numbers. But watching some highlights of his, he has quite the amount of skill. Moreso than I thought.

As for the Moore, Brass, 1st package... If Cundari, some goalie, and a 1st can net JBo... I'd assume our package could net a hell of a lot.

That's what I'm thinking, but no one's asking me.

The worst part right now is the timing of the deadline. Right now, Columbus does not control its playoff destiny and is actually two full games back of doing so. It would be possible to buy, drop one of the next two games after the deadline, and then be left holding the bag on a non-playoff team.

That would be a stinky bag if we acquire a rental, but Jarmo/JD have already said that they won't do that, and are only looking at acquiring long term pieces. That makes missing the playoffs less consequential on the outcome of a deal.

Hey guys. How would you feel about Fleischmann for a 2013 1st? I don't know if some other Panther's fan have mentioned it already. But he's still producing this yr on a bad Panther team and is signed thru 2015 at a reasonable $4.5M cap hit and is 28 yrs old. If you do the comparables, the only guy thats paid in the mid $4M range outscoring him is Andrew Ladd I believe. For the Rangers pick?

Ryder, Kunitz, Parenteau, and Moulson are among the many players outscoring Flash who make less money (not including Dupuis or the many RFA's). His contract isn't remarkable to me, one way or another. The key thing is that he doesn't produce at a better points per 60 minutes than Letestu or Brassard, so we have little use for him.
