And they are warn down by game 3 because Briere and DD have not one a ********* face-off. Not to mention we're down 6-0 because we can't shut down their best players or kill a penalty.

You mean all those faceoffs Plekanec never wins for us ?

Our weak pk was there anyways.

Down 6-0 has more to do with the team as a whole than Plekanec.

I wouldn't want to trade him, but Simmonds is the type of player we need and would make sense.

Nobody ****ing wants a 5'7 weak piece of **** centre like Desharnais.

The growing pains over losing Plek would be tough but man I'd do that. Eller steps into the top six, and you pick up a cheap vet centre to add some stablity maybe?

But you lose Beaulieu. That hurts. I kind of want to keep him. I want to have Subban, Tinordi AND Beaulieu down the road.

Maybe it won't, but a top 6 down the road (or even as early as next year) of Eller, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Simmonds, Gallagher and Bourque doesn't look too bad to me. Or too small.

Looks good, but we're basically conceding an entire season before any of that becomes reality.

Guys - don't believe every rumour you read.

Why would Philly trade Simmonds for Plekanec? Makes absolutely no sense. They have Giroux, Vinny, Schenn and Couturier at center.

Simmonds is just the type of player the Flyers love..he's young, skilled, tough as nails, and he's a winger. Why would they trade him..and another winger with grit in Talbot..for another center..and a small one at that? Not the Flyers style at all.

This reeks of a Hab fan looking at what the Habs need and coming up with this rumour out of the blue.

No, you're right.

There's just a vocal majority of posters who have no idea what a talented PMD defenseman with size and superior skating ability means in today's NHL.

We all know he'll be traded due to him not meeting character requirements. I just hope when he does we get someone good like Simmonds.

this is my personal opinion but losing beaulieu would hurt much more than losing plekanec, u dont see someone with his skillset + size + fighting prowess (he's no laraque but he can hold his own) everyday. and obviously hes still really young

If you believe Plekanec is the difference between finishing near the top of the league last year and finishing toward the bottom of the league the next year.

He might be...but he might not be either. It's something I'd think hard about rolling the dice on.

How is a 2nd rounder, DD, and Moen garbage?! Say what you want about the value/need for the flyers in the context of this trade, but you're completely wrong about their general value. DD would be in heaven on the flyers, he'd be easily sheltered and would rip it up. Moen and Talbot are a wash, and Coburn is the kind of Dman we need and is still 28 (which is young for a Dman). Not to mention a second round pick is always great to have in your pocket.

And yes, Beaulieu could get you Simmonds (and vice versa), there right there with one another in value. Both rare types.

Unbelievable.

There is no way beaulieu gets you possibly the 2 or 3 best power forward in the league straight up.
In terms of prospects, he's not even our best (I like tinordi better).

Beaulieu is good but still green. Simmonds is good and proven.

In unrelated news, I'd like to see the Habs go for a sort of reclamation project with Theo Peckham. Not sure how that adds up on the blueline though.

I don't hate it, although I want Talbot involved.

The stuff that happened with his Dad might be the reason Bergevin and the Habs would want to move him

He's very good, but not enough character. You know how it goes.
Can now anybody even pretend Bergevin hasn't Gregor Samsa'd into Gainey?

No, you're right.

He had a bad stint with the Habs this year but hopefully he squeezes Bouillon out and gets a full time role after next season.

In other news, Michael McCarron goes off the ice in pain after taking a slap shot high by Mac Bennet.
Kid did not look good

Will probably be discussed in Bennet's blog later on lol
