I know, it seems like it has taken years with the level of repetition that we now in this thread. Sunday the 30th certainly should be exciting.

If Doug McLean were still here he'd probably package #19 AND #27 for a 2nd round, a 3rd round and a 5th rounder(next year).

Then trade the 2nd for a 4th and some slapdick prospect that wouldn't crack an expansion team roster.

Nothing against Mike Pandolfo, of course.

Speculation by who?

Tampa is posturing, same as Colorado. I think Tampa Bay would be extremely content to trade down 3-4 spots (perhaps with Edmonton?) and select a defenseman. And there is speculation all over about the draft right now, it would be nonsensical to post one article in favor of my point (which would be easy) while ignoring all of the other points. It's all speculation.

But, but ... he drafted Rick Nash!

Who would you go with?

Based on the 30 guys you picked and who was available at each pick.

14. Pulock or Zykov
19. Mantha or Gauthier
27. Klimchuk

My picks for 19 and 27 could be different, though, based on how the draft would have changed with Pulock or Zykov going 14 instead of Wennberg.

Fair enough.

We'll see.

id be very happy with Pulock! same with Mantha it was so hard doing the Mock, hopefully I get a few Right!

Yeah if Domi or Horvat are gone, I'd rather Pulock or Zykov at 14, for some reason I don't really get excited about Wennberg. I like Mantha and hope he fits in there at 19, at 27 I've really been eyeballing Hartman or Klimchuck.

Are there not some serious attitude questions with Mantha?

Whoever is drafted by the CBJ is unlikely to be a player with an attitude or work ethic issue. If these do exist (I've heard this with Erne and Mantha on these boards - no idea if it's true) I just don't get the impression that the CBJ brass will have that as part of the culture. Now to what degree is this an issue? A little lazy, I don't think that would deter but someone with what is termed a character flaw seems like they'll be passed.

As the draft approaches and I look more and more at the level of talent, this certainly seems like a very deep draft so a potential character flaw could be the difference between a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick. I'd prefer we didn't use our 1st or 2nd round picks on guys who may have work ethic or attitude issues. There are several other players available with similar skill sets. (Not specifically pointing this at Erne or Mantha, just a general statement since the isssue was brought up.)

I'd go for Wennberg at 19. Definitely. Even at 14. Happy with that otherwise.

If Lindholm falls that far we better make a move to get him. I like your other picks but there's no way Lindholm falls THAT far. Maybe a few spots but absolutely no way he falls outside the top 10

12. Phoenix: Elias Lindholm

If Lindholm fell that far, Columbus would need to trade up. But that would never happen. Lindholm nearly broke the scoring record for 18 year olds in the SEL. Why he's so under the radar is crazy. He's the best Swedish forward prospect since Bäckström. He should be top 3.

He should be top 3.

I'd argue that this is stretching it a little. I don't know that it's Lindholm being so underrated as it's the strength of this year's draft. I'm a huge fan of Lindholm as well, but in Jones and MacKinnon you have potential game breaking, franchise type players. In Drouin you have a guy with dazzling skills and top line potential, and in Barkov you have a guy that may be one of the three or four best prospects to ever come out of Finland. Some may even argue that Nichushkin is ahead of Lindholm ... none of this is a detractor to him or his future, it's just that this is such a strong draft.

All that being said, no way does he fall past Edmonton at #7. If he even makes it that far ... everyone's opinion is different, but this player's upside is too high. If anyone's going to fall out of the top-10, it's Nichushkin.
