drafted in the flrst round by Flyers... makes NHL debut at age of 18.... first game with Flyers vs Rangers gets a natural hat trick named number one star with 5 pts.... i can predict the future... :help:

I think we could all predict that one, too easy ;)

If a team is convinced he's coming to NA, I don't know if he'll make it to the Flyers.

Why do teams need convincing? I'd say the majority of all the Russians drafted high in recent drafts come over to NA if they are worth a damn.

Ah, but will they stay? Will they use the KHL to extract more money on their contracts?

Part of the value of getting a high pick is to have them on their cheap ELC and then their RFA contracts (unless you are Edmonton who hands out big contracts like candy).

JT Compher will be playing at Michigan...

Played with a kid Jack Eichel who I think is going to be an American hockey prodigy.

Evidently one of the remaining Subban brothers is up in this draft.

Which prospects left for bigger bucks in Russia besides Radulov ?

How's Tarasenko's contract looking?

Love JT. That's the kind of pivot I would have loved to draft if we had a 1st rounder.

Eichel looks like an amazing talent this early. But it's early. Remember the names Schremp and Marcantuoni.

Many Russian prospects use that as a viable option when their contracts are up to get more money. Nullifies the RFA years.

We will see when his ELC runs out.

Many Russians also opt to stay. I'd say more good ones stay than leave.

I never thought Alex Semin would stay in the NHL, alot of people in hockey thought that. Yet, he's here.

You're asking the wrong guy.

We can pretend that the "Russian stigma" doesn't exist, but we still see kids slipping down the board because of it. It's not my own mantra, but some organizations seem to be clinging to it.

I think the Russian stigma is an excuse so they don't have to come out and say 'they dont have the guts or toughness OUR north american players have'.

The idea that the Rangers should trade NHLers or almost-NHLers for an 18 year old is ridiculous. It makes no logical sense at all except for the people's emotion in wanting to feel excited for the draft, which they won't be if the team doesn't have either a first or a second.

This team is going for it now. A first rounder will take half a dozen or more years to fully develop, and that's assuming he won't be a bust, a rather large assumption considering that 2/3 of the late first rounders and 50% of the mid-first picks never make the NHL.

This team isn't rebuilding now. If anything, it should give up more picks to improve for a Cup run next year.

Maybe not having a 1st in a loaded draft isn't the end of the world. We often go off the board in deep 1st rounds anyway.

Tony Manero: Oh **** the future!

Mr. Fusco: No, Tony! You can't **** the future. The future ****s you! It catches up with you and it ****s you if you ain't planned for it!

I see Boyle and DelZotto getting moved in the draft. Do I want it,no,possibility, yes

Ranger Boy posted a fair proposal. Trade Staal to Carolina for their 1st. I would want a 1st + prospects personally, but you can't ignore the threat that Carolina presents to us in the future by snagging Staal as a UFA. Carolina is also a cellar dweller this year and will be picking at about #6 overall which is very juicy. If we're going to lose Staal we might as well get something worth while for him. If we wait to trade him in his contract year to Carolina, the Cane's first round pick may not be as good.

Also acquiring the 6th overall gives us a 6.2% chance of winning the draft lottery and picking Seth Jones. :D lol.

I'm only trading someone if there's a plan in place to get one of Mackinnon or Drouin, both guys will play in the NHL at 18.

The trade would happen during the draft anyway. Draft order would be set before then.

Personally, I'd want a top4 pick, since the draft seems to drop off rather significantly after Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, and Barkov.

I'd trade one of the defenceman to Edmonton for their first pick (likely to be somewhere in the top 5; both sides can throw other stuff into the deal). They need experienced defence badly and and they aren't going to take a forward. The defenceman they take might take in the first round may take a couple of years to find himself, and the Oilers may not have that kind of time as the fans there are getting restless.

I think you can put Lindholm and Nichushkin in that group. I don't think you're likely to get a top-4 pick this year. Carolina or Edmonton would be your best bet to get top-6 pick. Both need defenders. Nashville has plenty of defensive depth and Florida and Colorado are both rebuilding. I doubt Tampa bay would give up one of MacKinnon, Jones or Drouin either.

If the Rangers are as intent on getting a first rounder this year as I am, Edmonton would make a great trading partner. This makes sense.

It's not as if the talent falls off a cliff after the top 4, but Mac, Jones, Drouin, and Barkov have less question marks surrounding them than the others in the draft, although I'd obviously love a Lindholm or a Nichushkin. Agreed with Edmonton and Carolina being the best targets. Although Edmonton values their lottery picks like gold over there.

OT, but how awesome is it that an African American has such a strong chance of going first overall? Comes from a basketball family too. Great to see the game growing.

The Rangers pick will between 15-20 depending what happens in the next few days. Its currently 18th. The Nashville 3rd is 4th overall in that round. The Rangers could package the Nashville 3rd and one of the other 3rds(NYR or Columbus) for a 2nd. The Rangers traded the Panthers 3rd in the Clowe deal is currently the top pick in each round. SJ traded it to Maloney for Torres.

The Rangers pick in the first round is #19. So Columbus gets #19 unless the Rangers make the conference finals which would be #27-#30. Columbus #1 pick is 14th overall. The LA pick is #22. Columbus has #14,#19 and #22 barring the Rangers and LA making the final 4.

The Rangers have a high 3rd. Nashville finished 4th overall. #64.

NHL lottery is tomorrow night.

If the Rangers win round one they would draft at #23 or lower (higher pick number) - no?
