You'd like for them to sign players that have some offensive upside. This kid looks like a 3rd liner at best; they already have enough of those.

Well, if they think the kid is a relatively safe bet to become a third line player in the league, it's not a bad move. It's like an extra second or third round pick. The problem is we sign guys like Tommy Grant that have AHL-caliber skills and nothing more. I'm not sold on Kantor from the couple times I saw him. Very limited sample size though. We'll see.

The fact that they got Mashinter for Grant is amazing to me.

The OHL site had Kantor's hometown in Illinois. The Rangers site has Kantor being born in NYC.

Looks more like the battler type. Good size-will drop the gloves. Puts up some points now and again. He's at least a couple years away I would think.

You need EVERY type of player in your system. This idea that we should ONLY be signing guys with good offensive upside is ridiculous.

While I agree, it seems like we sign these type of players exclusively, and bottom pair dmen.

We just signed a guy who has had season tickets for 49 years? :amazed:

After signing M Kantor here is the roster...

I wonder if Kantor played any hockey against John Moore as Kantor is out of Lake Forest and Moore out of Winnetk, Illinois? I remember myself playing Lake Forest many times as a member of the Winnetka squad, they were not very good back then...

Anyways here is a new list of -

That's pretty cool I guess.

Uh oh, the last life long Rangers fan we signed ended up making pizzas:sarcasm:

I think that would be a home-run if he became a 3rd liner. All I want to know is what type of player is he? Can he forecheck effectively? PK? Players like that are still useful.

I think Kantor is a prospect the Rangers fans will love. He'll skate through a wall to win. He was the wolves best PKer and shot blocker this year. Great on the fore-check and can absolutely lay people out in open ice. Has some pretty good skating and hands would consider him a bit underated in an offensive regard.

Would have probably had a bigger season but ended up blocking a shot off his face mid season which caused him to miss a month and seemed to really throw off his game for a bit.

Was also named the wolves MVP at the pre-season junior world championships that they played in russia.

See that is what I was asking for. Thank you very much for doing this. If he can come in and be a force on the forecheck, fight a little and PK then it's a good signing.
