That's just stat talk, what about the players progression and his game, what needs work besides the fact that he doesn't seem to rack up numbers.
Reading through the OHL thread, he was the teams captain and heart and soul player. Gave it his all 100% of the time on a bad team. Can take some dumb penalties because he is so involved (but IMO, that is not a bad thing, just a maturity thing). Sounds like a prototypical 4th liner in the NHL. Good speed, good size, good PKer. Lots of energy.
what player does he compare best too??? David Clarkson (also undrafted UFA), Todd Harvey, Sean Avery, Brandon Prust???
For those who are wondering what Dodero brings to the table with his ATO for the whale. He's a defencemen with slight below average hockey sense, good defensive position and while he's not generally fighting he does have a decent mean streak and the ability to throw some great open ice hits.

will he get an NHL contract like Kantor did?? why did NYR sign Kantor after signing him to ATO?? not complaining about it![]()
how about trading up to snag Max Domi in the 2ed round or will he be taken before than??? would add depth to center with grit and skill. son of fan favorite Tie Domi....
Right now we are at 50 contracts
We have 5 guys signed for new contracts starting next year - Kantor, MSC, Nicholls, Hughes and Allen. In addition Noreau and McColgan will most likely get NHL deals this offseason. Doubt anybody else in the organisation gets a pro NYR deal this offseason - though Ceresnak is a dark horse here. College boys and Euros will stay put. This means we have 57 potential contracts all in all - before looking at coming roster subtractions.
Expiring contracts
RFA (10)
McDonagh, Sauer, Stepan, Hagelin, Zuccarello, Niemi, Pyett, Ferriero, Mashinter, Palmieri
I see Sauer, Niemi and Pyett not getting qualified - minus 3. Most likely the rest of these players will be resigned - but this Is not by any means etched into stone...
UFA (7)
Clowe, Hamrlik, Eminger, Gilroy, Segal, Collins, Vernace
I see only Clowe and Eminger as the possible returnees. Clowe is a huge if IMO too. I know Beacon speaks well about Vernace too...minus 5 - possibly 6 (or even 7).
I also see us ridding ourselves of a couple contracts through offseason trades. Maybe Pyatt, Wilson (for what though?), and one of Boyle/Asham/Powe. Subtract 3 more...
This would put us at around 4 contracts left to "get" for next year. Not much space to try to sign any longshot future prospects it would seem. looks like we would already have that in the organisation too. except goalies which I think we will be drafting. If Myles Bell were to be drafted, he would go pro immediately too. Methinks we will not be seeing any big offseason moves and will look at trying to sign the RFAs, add a depth defender or two into the organisation and try to get some stability by minimizing the annual roster turnover jamborees we have been witnessing. The season after sees a large number of contracts expiring as well...
What do you think?
Think the Rangers are going to resign at least one (maybe two) of the AHL vet D's--they just don't have enough experienced d-men for Connecticut next year. Of the RFA's not getting resigned I would guess Ferriero, Niemi, Palmieri. The Rangers have enough forward depth where they can just dump both Ferriero and Palmieri and maybe even Mashinter (though I'd hold on to him maybe--size, grit, some skill). Don't think Ferriero, Palmieri were impressive enough or even in the teams plans. Sauer will be a medical decision. It doesn't look good at this point.
Personally I'd keep Pyett--seems to be smooth, good with the puck, helps the offense, maintained a nice +/- throughout the year. Vernace is another option to keep for pretty much the same reasons.
As far as UFA's I'd try to bring back Clowe--but that's got to be within ($-and term) reason. Eminger I like as well. He's a gamer. Other than that Hamrlik, Gilroy, Segal, Collins--it's see you later.
So basically we lose Ferriero, Palmieri, Niemi, Hamrlik, Gilroy, Segal, Collins and unfortunately Sauer-8 bodies. Then there's 4 maybes--Eminger, Mashinter, Pyett, Vernace. And then there's what Clowe decides to do.
If Rangers could dump Taylor Pyatt as well that's another spot.
i think Rangers keep Ferriero based on that he brings alot of speed to the lineup whenever he gets to play.. id dump Niemi, Collins, Segal Newbury before Ferriero..
I think the Rangers got ****ed over when the Coyotes picked Samuelsson one pick ahead of us. Watched the Oil Kings game 2 replay and he and Lazar were doing everything out there. Puck possession, hitting, driving to net, etc. Would a package of Moore-Skjei entice the Coyotes to part with their 1rst (Lazar) and Samuelsson? Maybe also throw a pick for Mitch Moroz and we have a future shutdown 3rd line lol.
Igor Eronko @IgorEronko 5m
Valeri Nichushkin says he likes #Flyers & #Rangers most of all, wants to spend summer in NA to train hard #NHLdraft2013
Where would he go?
Top 10 in the draft conservatively, but seriously considered as a top 5 choice.
Damn, well that sucks.![]()
Yeah if he likes the Rangers just means he's gonna be a Ranger killer every time he plays at the Garden.
He will go to the Flyers, watch.
