Remember before last year when some people actually thought Scott frickin Parse was gonna be in the opening night lineup? Hell, I even had a dream right after the lockout ended that he made the team.

At least the lineup going into this year doesn't look that bad. Bad enough where we have to wonder if some bum will start on the team. It's also not so weak that we'll have both Barch and Janssen make the team like they did last time.

Just watched highlights of the 2011-2012 team.

It really made me remember how much I loved that team. That was honestly my favorite Devils team, I loved everything about that team and every player.

I just wish the two building blocks hadn't left us so shabbily. We were building this team around 9 and 17 and that year looked like it was going to be an unqualified success. The main thing that doesn't spoil that run for me is the heroic fourth line is still here. Not to mention Marty, and Elias. And thankfully the biggest goals were scored by guys that 'are' still here (Zajac, Henrique).

8 yrs 4.287 avg

1- 3
2- 3.25
3- 4
4- 4.50
5- 4.50
6- 5
7- 5
8- 5

probably a pipe dream.
Henrique wouldn't want that. If he becomes a better player like we know he's going to, he'll be worth a lot more than 4.2M in just a few years. Why sign an 8 year deal when he could be making more when he needs a new extension? It will likely be a 3-4 year deal. Players typically sign a 8 year contract when they've reached their top potential. Henrique isn't there yet.

And if Henrique has another down year the way he did this year he's not seeing that money either, it's a calculated risk for both sides but either way it's good to know there isn't some stupid reason this hasn't been settled.

$38M, 8 yrs, cap hit of 4.75 per. Risky, but he gets locked up longterm and AH gets paid.

1-3
2-3.5
3-4
4-4
5-5.5
6-5.5
7-6
8-6.5

I see it all as a bracket:
7-up...allstar caliber (bonafide 1st line forward/top pairing defensemen)
5-7...very good, proven forwards good 1st liners, very good 2nd liners, etc. (Zajac, Elias are here)
3-5...very good top 9 forwards/serviceable top 4 defensemen/very good 3rd pairing defensemen (Zubrus, Ryder, Clowe, Jagr, Greene, Volchenkov)
1-3...decent 3rd line players but better depth players and secondary forwards, utility guys, PK specialists, still 3rd pairing defensemen (Olesz, Fayne)
league min.-1...rookies, reclamation projects, low demand>high supply UFAs (more 1M to 3M), 7th defensemen, enforcers (Olesz, Larsson, Henrique)

but like some said above I'd consider this bracket once the player has shown the player they are not a Larsson or Henrique but a Zajac or Greene.

if Henrique signs for 8 years people are REALLY not going to like the cap hit, I'll just say that right now.

if Henrique gets an 8 year deal Lou should be shown the door immediately. Before the ink even dries on the paper. If any part of ownership approves a 8 year 30 mil+ deal for him they deserve to have the league pull the plug on any future funding. There's no way to even have an intelligent conversation on Henrique getting those terms.

No he shouldnt. We complain when FA's leave through FA soo now we sign a guy longterm and keep him, and we continue to complain :laugh:

If you think Adam Henrique is worth 8 years and 35 mil then I have to just walk away. There is no justification at all for a deal like that. None whatsoever. We complain when free agents leave as months and years go by and there are no negotiations taking place. it's not the fact they leave it's how they are handled before they leave.

I like how you just make your own numbers up when no one said that lol

I am also glad you know for a fact that no negotiations take place.

Previous posts talked about 8/4.25-4.5. Lou doesn't negotiate during the season. He's made that clear. Also, he let's his top players play out their final year. The one exception is the brutal deal he signed Zajac to. LOL!

I am sure if Lou would've let Zajac walk you would've been the first one here running your mouth about how we always let everyone walk, etc.

if Henrique gets 8 years, hes going to get around $32 million. thats the price of buying out UFA years, like it or not.

I wanted him just because Parse with number 9 would have been hilarious.

I forgot he was still signed by us.

It wasn't until this post I remembered Parse at all...that's the only reason I remember him, cause of people making jokes about changing their jersey and having him wear 9.

Why not. Need something to talk about lol

To each his own but eventually I got to a point in my life where I decided not to help put money in some guys pockets that makes a joke out of his profession and in it, the sport of hockey.
