Smells like teen spirit

:sarcasm:

Seriously, I wonder if they actually pay this guy to come up with rumors(or manufacture them)?

I heard Pat say on Hot Ice that some players would be signing a contract..This came right after the Best Fights of Doug Glatt, Just as reliable as Eklund

The only way I see us missing the playoffs again, will be because of two things.

Either we get completely killed with injuries.

Or Pete makes boneheaded decisions with the lineup. Like treating Schneider like he did Fayne/Larsson and giving Marty too long of a leash. Or constantly putting Harrold in the lineup over someone better, or trying to convert Jagr into a left winger because he shoots left (Lou already said he'll play right wing cause that's where he has played his entire career, so it probably won't happen) or other such novice decisions like he made last year (Not his fault we missed the playoffs, but he didn't make many adjustments and would stick to things that weren't working)

If he plays the best goalie all the time, plays the best defense all the time, and doesn't try to convert players, we'll be good. Lou built the best team he could this year, now it's up to the coaches to run the team efficiently.

Columbus is by far the most overrated team on HFBoards..

I'm sick of hearing them and Islanders fans act like their teams are so great now. Wow the Islanders made the playoffs in a 48 game season! Do it in an 82 game season and then I'll be impressed. The BJ's ALMOST made the playoffs because an average (Until proven otherwise) goaltender played out of his mind. And this was in a 48 game season.

The Devils have missed the playoffs ONCE in an 82 game season in the last 16 seasons of 82 games. There's a good chance if we had 82 games last year that the Devils make the playoffs, and the Islanders drop out. Also wouldn't have been surprised to see Bobrovsky regress to average and the Blue Jackets finishing in 12th.

@TGfireandice do you get the impression the devils moved on from brunner or are they waiting to resolve rfa's (henrique) first ?

Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice
Speaking of impressions, I do a mean Jack Benny.

I could see Columbus sneaking in and getting a wild card spot if the stars align but yea I wouldn't be surprised if they had a rough go of it. There going to be in some trouble if/when Bobrovsky comes down to earth and pulls a Steve Mason. I'm not really sold on him yet.

There forward unit is really underwhelming. They really only have 3 top 6 players. The rest of there group are 3rd/4th line grinders. Mark Letestu is there number 1 center. Thats an issue. I can't see how there going to be able to score enough to say afloat in this division unless Gaborik explodes. If Bobrovsky regresses then there pretty much screwed.

They did sign Nathan Horton, but he's supposedly out until December. Bobrovsky IMO is probably somewhere in between the bad goalie we saw in Philadelphia, and the all world goalie we saw last year. Philadelphia can make any goalie bad, so I would guess that he's a lot better than what his stats were in Philadelphia.

That team might need better than a little above average goaltending to get anywhere. They almost made it only because they had the best goaltending in the league. A cardboard box is an upgrade in net over that piece of crap Steve Mason. So I would expect he'll be much better than that, but not as godly as last year.

I just don't see how there offense is gonna be able to keep up with everyone else. If Gaborik, Umberger, and Horton go cold/get hurt then who's stepping up for them? Anisimov? Dubinsky? Letestu? Cam Atkinson? LOL they don't have many options. Moving into this division didn't do them any favors.

as I said yesterday, if Henrique gets a longer term deal, a lot of you will be very surprised at the cap hit.

he is NOT going to be getting anything like 8/$40 though. thats silly talk.

lol who thought he would get 5M per on this contract? that would be absurd and 29 GMs would be pissed at that precedent.

This.

Henrique isn't getting a Tyler Seguin type of deal. The kid is promising but he's no where near the talent of the wonderkids getting paid 5.5M$+ on their 2nd contract.

I can see Henrique getting something in the area of 2.5M$/3M$ per and even that might be pushing it a little.

if he gets a longterm deal, he is getting more than $2.5. easily.
