Give him less of a hit. 2.750.000 hit he isn't Parise-second-contract productive. He had one good year.

I had a dream Lou managed to get rid of Volchenkov and then signed Raymond. Not sure how I'd feel about Raymond coming here but if it means Volchenkov is gone then so be it.

I hope Henrique's agent doesn't read this forum and see what some of you guys are ready to give him...

if he signs a shorter term deal (2-3 years) then I agree, he isn't going to get much.

but if he signs a 6 or 8 year deal, he will be getting more than we think since we will be buying UFA years. thats how it works, so just be ready for it if it happens

I believe this contract was in part why Parise is gone today...just one little facet, a thread in the tapestry, but a factor.

That was a sweetheart deal, especially when compared to what others got from the 2003 Draft class like Getzlaf, Perry, Richards and Carter and Parise was expecting to get seriously paid after that deal expired.

if he gets a longterm deal, he is getting more than $2.5. easily.

Why would we give him a LTC with a 4M$ cap hit? What did Henrique do to deserve such a deal?

The kid had a fantastic rookie year when he was sloted between two All-Stars and followed that up with a brutal sophmore year.

I'd give him a bridge contract, something in the area of a 2 or 3 year deal, before handing him a long term deal.

why did Nashville give Josi a 7 year/$28 million deal (whos played less games than Henrique)?

why did the Islanders give Hamonic a 7 year/$27 million deal?

if you give a guy a longerm deal, you pay for their UFA years. its a pretty basic concept. you pay more now for what you think he will become in 2-3 years so that you don't have to worry about it again.

its a risk, sure. but I said IF he gets a longer deal, it will be around $3.5/4 million a year. and people should probably brace for that.

I wouldn't say brutal..alas that's the conundrum with AH. He has skill, speed, a two-way game, his PK, his shot, his intangibles, etc, but he definitely disappointed relative to a breakout rookie season. I'm ok with Lou betting on upside with Adam. 4 or 5 years at 4 is rich but I think the downside is that he's a 2M, solid role player. The upside is that he's a $6 M, top 30 player.

8/32 4AAV for Henrique is fine probably.

Would be more comfortable doing the standard model, like Couture. I would honestly just mirror that situation to the near dollar and go from there.

Agree, he actually scored goals at an OK clip. And he does play the entire ice. I think his season is downgraded, in part, because everyone else's inability to put the puck in the net.

I'd def do this.

Though I expect Henrique would not.

Read this article. Was a bit interesting, as he was compared to Cody Hodgson. Couldn't tell if that was a good thing or not.

Parise had just one good year too, only his good year was the season before that contract. Henrique is coming off a clunker, Parise was coming off a 31 goal/62 point season. Henrique's season last year was similar to Parise's rookie year. Henrique would have had more goals, but point totals would have been the same. Parise's sophomore year was very similar to Henrique's rookie year, except in goals scored.

Adjusted for inflation, what Parise got on his second contract seems fair for Henrique. Somewhere between what Parise and Zajac got on their second contracts. If it goes beyond UFA years then $4 million is cool I guess.

31 goals compared to 16 goals does not make for a similar season.
