Sounds strange, but it does not appear that Kovalchuk is wearing shoulder pads.

Considering that Kovalchuk suffered a right shoulder injury, that would be strange he wouldn't be wearing shoulder pads.

Kovalchuk is wearing a black jersey , usually for defensemen. He's taking soft shots on Brodeur right now.

Kovakchuk has a black jersey on and little or no shoulder pads, so he won't be involved in contact. But he is shooting.

wonder what the timeline is for his return now

He's not wearing shoulder pads, so no contact, but it's nice he's allowed to shoot. I wonder how much longer until contact, should be able to come back the same day contact is allowed, I imagine.

Where would this team be without those four players?

This board is way too funny. People complain about Lou not making moves, when he clearly has. I'm pretty sure we've made more trades than any other team this year, and all of our trades have been buys. Then people complain about giving up draft picks (late ones, no less), while simultaneously complaining about how bad our drafting has been the last 10 years in another thread.

Captain Lou said it best in the Sabres postgame thread. A bad losing streak brings out the stupid in people.

If you think that adding Poni, Sullivan, Kostopoulos, Butler, etc, etc, etc (with the exception of Loktionov) has made us a better team, then how do you explain the massive slide in the standings and the fact that we're currently OUT, looking in?

"A bad losing streak brings out the stupid in people"... what a joke of a comment

I wouldn't say that 7 wins in 27 games is a "losing streak" anymore. It's over half of this current season... but yeah, we'll pick up the pace and go unbeaten in our last 8 cause those solid acquisitions will all of a sudden rise from the ashes.

The moves he made where to repair the holes he created, period, so let's not act like he saved our roster by adding "meh" talent that hasn't done anything special since arriving with our team.

yea Lokti hasn't helped us at all or anything

In all honesty, thank god for Loktionov. I have no idea where this team would be if Lou didn't acquire him and I'm being serious here. I have to hand it to him, that was a steal of a trade right there but he still didn't strenghten our team to put us back on track.

That's the only move that's paid off and with Zajac looking like Jay Pandolof ATM, it's a good thing Lokti is still producing as our #1 center but it's also a indicative of how bad we're currently playing as well.

Without those trades/claimings, here are our lines right now:

Elias - Zajac - Clarkson
Zubrus - Henrique - Bernier
Carter - Josefson - Tedenby
Matteau/Pesonen - Gionta - Barch

But yeah, definintely shouldn't have made those trades brah

Sullivan has played what two games? He has one goal.

Butler gone and hasn't done much in Nashville.

Kostoupoulos is a four liner.

Poni is a body.

ETC, Etc, ETC. ETC.= Don't know who they are.

Andrei has made the most of his chances and lets' not dismiss it as a pickup because it doesn't fit your Lou bashing.

You are also ignoring a few key injuries and oversimplifying the problem. But that's typical of you.

Get back in there Kovy!!!!

Zubrus-Loktionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Sullivan
Ponikarovsky-Josefson-Clarkson
D'Agostini-Carter-Bernier

and after I take over the team and open up the wallet:

Zubrus-Loktionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Horton
Stalberg-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

I guess it shows how bad Zajac is playing considering I just did two lineups and forgot all about him.

Team had a better record with Matteau here, he was obviously the lynchpin for the season. Major screw up in sending him down for the playoffs....but wait, Matteau shouldn't have been drafted at all, so then how bad would the Devils have been this year?

With those trades, guess what... We still suck brah, yeah know, cause were not winning brah... Hence the 7 wins in 27 games brah.

- Hooray for Ponikarovski, we still suck with or whitout him
- Hooray for Sullivan, we still suck with or whitout him
- Hooray for D'Agostini, we still suck with or whitout him

I don't care if Lou does 17 trades, if they aren't helping the team and they're all "minor" additions, it's like if he did nothing and that's why we're continuing to nose dive in the standings depstite the change in personnel he's adding via trades.

But yeah, continue to look past the big picture ;)

They ARE helping the team. The team just still isn't great at finishing games. Yet we're 2 points out of the playoffs.

Without those trades and claimings, we're all in the draft thread and not the team news thread, where you'd be spending your time complaining about our drafting.

We're 2 pts out of the playoffs cause we played like gangbusters at the start of the season

So was the team great when the season started, because their record was great?

If yes, why did the great team decide to stop being great?

If the answer is no, then you can buy into the fact that a teams record at any single point in time might not accurately reflect how good or bad that team truly is.

Just looked up where the term numbnuts originated from. Story checks out.

anyway, please get kovy back and score and win and make the playoffs

So then using your logic, the Saints should cut Drew Brees because they didn't make the playoffs with him, so they can just as easily miss without him.

According to Chere, Kovy is on the ice for the second practice session. REALLY good sign.

Now, it kind of looks like Kovalchuk has shoulder pads on.

Very odd, if true.

Win the 2 games this week and get Kovy back for next week and we're not in bad shape.

Especially when you consider one of those games is against Ottawa who is only 4 points above us and has lost 4 straight. And also the fact that the Rangers and Islanders play on Saturday, which guarantees a loss for one of them and hopefully not a 3 point game.

But we need to win both of these games. Both of which are at home.

I think Kovy is in tomorrow. We will see

If not tomorrow he is definitely in vs Ottawa

All I have to say is this... we better not rush him back and **** him up long term, just to save this brutal season.

I know he's a freak of nature and has no resemblance whatsoever with him, but the last thing we need is a "DiPietro type situation" on our hands, where we're paying someone to stay on the IR for the lenght of his long ass contract.

the ‘moves’ he makes keep us mired in mediocrity. I’d rather he did nothing sometimes. yes he got loki, that was great and incredibly lucky by his own admission. but this season, he did not make moves to make us contenders, nor did he make moves to set us up for future talent coming. middle of the pack **** and im sick of it

as much as i want kovy back i feel like he plays any of the next 2 games he is being rushed back due to our current slide. The last thing i want is to see him re-injured

I feel pretty comfortable saying that I will have no idea when Kovy's shoulder is healthy enough to play.
