I'm rooting for the Isles tonight... We need to keep the Flyers away from us... We have to shoot for 6th/7th since we play the Rangers twice and Leafs once.

Want the Flyers. We need to keep the teams in front of us in reach and for the Flyers to have some reason to continue the fight against other teams we are jockeying with.

Although they have one more versus us, they also have Isles (2x), Ottawa (2x), Sabres and Rangers. We usually play them tough, so I'll take them trying to be competitive against us if that means they'll remain competitive for the other 6 games above. Of course, starting Mason tonight may draw into question that theory.

Kovalchuk watched games while he's been injured with his daughter and she said, "Daddy I think they really miss you. You’ve got to be back."

Awwwwww

Lol, with Kovy's mom and his daughter, we've got a player whose family is likable instead of *cough* *cough* Niedermayer and *gag* Gomez.

Zajac beats Brodeur. Only one of first six shooters to score.

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 1h

Of course, Kovalchuk beats Brodeur.

Haha this just shows the shootout depth of our team or lack thereof of the shooters. Marty hasn't lasted 6 rounds or even 4 in a shootout all year. Zajac somehow beats him in round 6! Then Kovy comes out in his first practice, and beats him!:yo:

I wonder if Kovy deked him, or shot? If he did shoot then that says his shoulder hasn't effected his shot much.

Leafs are 8 points ahead of us, we're not catching up to them. We need to think about getting back in the top 8 and not worry about the teams behind us. At least if the Flyers do pass us, we'll improve our draft position.

Kovy said he didn't try a slap shot cause he didn't wanna push it. Still wonder if he deked or shot. Only Rolston would do a slap shot in the shootout anyway!

cheer for whoever you want

It just doesn't make sense to want the necessary points we need to get to harder to reach. If the flyers get closer, we are still 2 points out. If the Islanders win we are 4 points out. :dunno:

I actually used to sympathize with the Isles like many of you. Then after seeing our team no show them too many times, and just roll over giving them points, and the fact that them in the playoffs over us makes me sick well I changed my tune.

Go Flyers.

I will always root against those ahead of us.* I'm old-fashioned that way. The only exception being if a team way ahead of us is playing a team right behind us.

Yeah, can we get some hate towards the Islanders? They haven't been competitive for so long. It's hard to get up for them. But they have been playing us tough.

Lets go Flyers and every team that plays teams above us.

I hate this ''Us Devils fans respect the Islanders because we hate the Rangers!'' Speak for yourself. I don't respect that POS team. Maybe we should respect the Pens since we both hate the Flyers too right?

Here we go... another Ranger complex.

The Rangers lost 1,000 seats temporarily due to the renovations. They sell out every single game they have. The Devils sellouts have been inflated for the most part with 500-1000 empties. Don't deny that we ALL know that the Rangers would sell out every game if they had 19,000 or 20,000 capacity. Can we just stop caring so much please?

I have attended most of the Devils home games this season and there has not been anything close to 1,000 empty seats at any announced sellout. I am sure the team 'papers' a bit like any major league organization, but this exaggerating by our own fans just keeps the 'no fans' nonsense alive.

As for MSG's 17,200 hockey capacity, that might not be temporary. I was there last week and the only remaining work to be done is the entrance lobby and the sky bridges. I think, like most other sports venues in the area, the capacity went down to accommodate more luxury options (and in MSG's case wider concourses and improved sightlines).

Unless its already in place (which I can't remember if it is), they were originally planning another balcony on the east side of the building. The west balcony opened ahead of schedule after the first summer. It was like 2, maybe 3 ledges of seating on the 10th floor where suites used to be and also had some concessions back there. Maybe even some standing room. Assuming that 2nd deck isn't open yet, that plust he bridges could get them back near the 18,200 mark.

If we don't win, I think we might see Kovalchuk on Friday on third line minutes and PP minutes.

I don't know... The game against the Islanders last Monday had a TON of empty seats.

Here's a pic from the Leafs game.... and NO all those people were NOT watching from the Lounge so please don't tell me that.

I was at that game, and sitting on the same side of the ice as where that picture was taken from (albeit on the other end). That picture is quite misleading. Very rarely did the club seats look anything like what you see in that picture. Especially when you see there is about a minute to go in the period, its a bit of a loaded opportunity to try to rip on the crowd for it. People all over the building start heading for the concourses within the last minute or two of a period to try to get a jump on lines at concessions or bathrooms. Same thing will apply for the clubs, if anything to a greater extent because of the limited areas for the food/bathrooms. Really not the most fair basis of comparison given the point in the game.

Man... people defend attendance like we are throwing around jokes about each other's mothers. I've been at 11 home games this season.... the word "sellout" is definitely a loosely used term.... especially when a good friend is an usher and they get printouts of how many people walked through the gates.

Also, you want to tell me what other teams sell out almost every game while sending around panic e-mails two days before games trying to give away suite tickets for 50 and club for 75. .... almost 75% off. You think what you want.

.. and as far as that Leafs game goes... my cousin was on his way home from college at Fordham... he jumped off the PATH with two friends to see if there were any tickets left. He walked right up to the box office and was told he can pick three tickets in almost any section of the building an hour before the game started... but I'm sure he bought the last three right?

No to be honest this is the 9th or 10th time I've seen someone come up with nearly the exact same post on HF, Facebook, or Twitter about how they saw attendance numbers and we are ahead of the Rangers and we have more fans than them...

Some people around here will take the Devils not making the playoffs if it means the Rangers lose a few games and can't fill their building. Pathetic.

I totally agree. i go to games with a 13yo and an 9 yo. We often jump out with a minute or so left to get on the BR lines , The truth lies somewhere in the middle of those pics. Thing is compared to previous years the balconies and most of the 200s are full every night. the Lounge sections will always be a bit more scattered. If you look at other arenas that are new and have the same type set up the middle sections often looksome what more sparse.

i've seen it too. multiple times. and someone always has to swoop in and explain the construction issue. i just cant believe anybody cares about this right now, given everything.

Why the hell would you root for the Islanders? WHo gives a **** who's behind us? We're not playing for 9th place, we're playing for 8th. In order to move up, we need the teams ahead of us to lose. Even if Philly passes us at some point, WE STILL NEED TO PASS THE ISLES
