If everyone knows you are the most underrated player in the league, does that still make him underrated? A 4 million cap hit for a 70+ point player with great defense. In my top 20 in the league right now.

“The one thing I don’t think Lou (Lamoriello) does is bring people to camp just as a favor or to give them a look,” DeBoer said. “(Matteau is) here to try and make the team and if he can play himself into one of those top 20 spots that we feel he can help us win a game on Saturday or Tuesday, I think he’ll get that opportunity. It’s always been merit-based around here and if he can work his way into that group then I don’t see why he wouldn’t be part of that. I’ve never been told any different than the guys we’re inviting to camp have a legitimate chance to make the team and that includes him.”

Two seasons ago, Santorelli was 20g 21a in Florida. Then 9g and 1a in 60 games last year.

I gotta say, watching the scrimmage (and I know it's just a scrimmage), Butler and Matteau both really look like they belong. Butler looks a little lost in the O zone sometimes but that's to be expected. No doubt the staff will clear that up quickly.

EDIT: Wait, I've confused myself. Butler is 9, right? Who's 15?
