It's going to be Volch or Tallinder that sit if they do that, probably rotational. The team captain isn't sitting, neither is Fayne. Can't picture Larsson being up here, and sitting. Greene and Zidlicky add mobility/puck moving so they're not going to sit.

Maybe we go with seven defensemen. Would make some sense given our lack of forward depth.

You can 'maybe' get away with that the first six-seven games before the back-to-backs start but it'd be pretty suicidal to run out eleven forwards day after day when the schedule tightens up. Especially if they overwork Kovy again and have more 30+ minute games like at the beginning of last year.

Honest question because no one has given me a good answer yet:

What's the point of rolling 7 D-men if one isn't a specialist?

I don't see the benefit. Only thing it does is keep people happy via indecisiveness on the coach's part. If a forward gets hurt mid-game, we effectively are forced to roll 3 lines. And if it happens in the first few minutes of a game? And if it happens to be Kovy who will be double shifting as is? Just a terrible idea, IMO.

I think maybe Larsson sits for a few games to showcase somebody else.

So, I just watched the scrimmage game and here are my thoughts:
  • Both 34's on the red team are very good skaters. I know Matteau is one of them , but I dont know the other.
  • After watching I feel that we should have Tedenby on the team because he looked faster than most of the team. I know this sounds crazy , but I would make the first line Kovy-Zajac-Ted. Only reason is because that will be a speedy line. With a bunch of people on other teams not in game shape speed can kill.
  • Our fourth line did not look the same. But, I expected that.
  • Also number 41 on red, played Defense, impressed me a lot. He was a tall guy who at one point was just shoving Carter off the puck in the corner like it was nothing. Was also a smooth skater.
  • Like I said before I am worried about our speed. The only people that looked fast was: Kovy, Zajac, Teddy, the 34s', and Zidlicky who looked just ok.
  • Last thought is pretty useless, but Bobby Butler looks like Parise out there with the number 9. Their body shapes look similar.

Hopefully that's the only thing that's similar.

your weed. give it to me.

Someone has to sit as been said. He won't sit for long. I don't want him to be sat either, but I don't know why you seem to think it's out of the question when a couple others have said the same thing. I also don't think Pete hates as Volchenkov as much as most think or he would have been benched during the Florida series.

There is always somebody that will say another guy is high for saying Fayne or Tallinder might get the press box suites also.

Haven't watched the scrimmage yet (going to set it up on my TV later tonight).

Kovy-Zajac-Tedenby would be a horror defensively, I think. I am a big Tedenby fan and hopefully he can get another shot this year to stick in the NHL. That line would be SICK offensively but Zajac is the only defensively minded forward there and that would be scary.

DeSimone is the other 34. 41 is Hrabarenka

Kovy is better defensively and he is also a RW. Not sure why everyone keeps putting him in the LW spot when it has clearly been stated before the Kovy will start off as a RW again.

i was just asking for a hit.

Sorry dude I don't smoke!

Also I don't want Tedenby near Kovy. If Tedenby can't score a goal in the first few games then seriously GTFO. It's been 101 games get your **** straight if you wanna stick in the NHL. Or become TedenBUST. He is of no use at all if he can't score.

Hopefully Zajac re signing makes Lou not wanna cling to him like he has been.

I agree , but I actually think our defense is good enough to help out with that line. Also like I said the amount of speed this line would have it would be hard to catch up to these guys when they are cycling in the zone. But, that would only last for a few games cause by then people will be getting into game shape.

If Tedenby doesn't start scoring I want him out. He's of no use if he's not scoring unless you wanna play him on the 4th line. There should be no more patience after this. He's had 101 games already, and the last 43 were extremely disappointing with the first 58 being inconsistent.

Yes I like Tedenby as much as Jim likes Kovy.

I thought the Teddy - Yayo - Clarkson line was very productive last year. This is my guess for the forwards.

Zubrus - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - Gomez - Zubrus
Teddy - Yayo - Clarkson
Carter - Gionta - Bernier

Is my guess for the start of the season.

Tedenby had like 7 points last year. They weren't productive at all last year unless you mean 10/11. I'm assuming you do cause I don't even remember if they played at all last season. Josefson went down 5 games in, and by the time he came back, Tedenby was sent Albany right around the same time.

Your lines aren't bad, but you have two Zubrus's!;)
