I love how people talk as if they know Lecavalier personally. Yeah, let's not try and sign the closest thing we've had to a legit #1C since Sundin's departure, a guy who has 13 straight seasons of 20+ goals/20+ goal pace (every year of his career after his rookie season :amazed:), as well as 12 seasons scoring 60+ or at a 60+ pt pace (every year since 02-03, and every year with the exception of his rookie and 4th years), just because we'll assume he has no desire despite no evidence of that being true.

Would love any one of them too, but Clutterbuck is probably the most realistic one. Man would he look good crushing people while wearing a Leafs uniform.

Fixed, so it doesn't sound like he's crushing our Leafs!

7:30pm et - Lecavalier meeting with Anaheim now, Detroit and Toronto to come still tonite. - Rishaug

7:11pm et - Sources tell TSN Lecavalier camp has met with Dallas, St. Louis, Philli and Montreal with more to come tonite

damn, thats a lot of teams interested. I think the Ducks would be a sleeper pick to land him, and have him on the second line behind Getzlaf. But he has said he wants to be a #1C, the teams that can do that for him are Toronto, Montreal, St. Louis, and Dallas. On the other teams he'd be playing behind someone.

agree with the bolded lol

Although I have the instincts to dislike Seguin because of the Kessel history, I definitely see him as a center. Whether that's in the #1 slot or #2. With the depth the Bruins have at the center ice position, he was pretty much forced to the wing. His speed, vision, and skill are much more suited in the middle of the ice. The struggles he had in the PO were because he was on the 3rd line playing with Chris Kelly. He needs to play in the top 6 and needs to be in the middle.
Agreed.I'd love him at the right price despite many people's misgivings about him.

He would be behind Benn.

I see him going to the Habs, unless Nonis knocks his socks off with a big offer, which I hope he doesn't. Based on the last few seasons Vinny would only be good for about 65 games a season. That's not someone you want to count on for being healthy during a long playoff/Cup run.

I'm willing to give him a chance but at the right price not what was asked by one of our posters.

heck, right now, i'd offer Kadri for Seguin and not even be sure if i would be willing to add anything more.

kick em while they are down!

And if Seguin can't play center?

We have a bunch of wingers and nobody to play in the middle

I am sorry, I do not want Vinny on this team at all. I may be the only one, but the guy has lost a step, is injury prone, getting up there in age as well. The guy is a coaster, he has all the talent to be a ppg player and dominate, he just chooses not to. There is a reason why he wants another long term contract after getting that cash from the buyout. He wants security where if he decides to coast again, he is still getting paid.

If he was good, he would take a 1 year contract at reduced money and go get himself a title chance. He could easily go to Chicago for like a million and be a good #2 center, play with great players like Hossa and Sharp, and probably win another cup and be a free agent next year with increased value. The only think this guy cares about is money and I dont want those type of people anywhere near my team
No. You aren't the only one.

You would want letang for 7.5 for 8 years and we lose gardiner+kulemin+whatever assets they want?

Why trade for him if it looks like he'll plan to test free agency eventually. With the rumors that he would want to go to Toronto, I'd just wait until Pittsburgh lets him walk or trades him to another team and then if he goes FA we will have a good shot at him. No point in trading assets to him and losing cap space at the same time.

http://www.csnne.com/blog/bruins-talk/source-bruins-listening-offers-seguin

General manager Peter Chiarelli referenced the subpar season for Seguin when asked about him at the season-ending press conference earlier this week.

“I thought he played a strong game the last game. I thought his [Stanley Cup Final] was good. He’s a young, explosive player that didn’t perform exactly the way we had envisioned,” said Chiarelli. “But he’s young and he makes plays, and he makes timely plays. There are only good things in store for him.”

With all of that in mind amid a stacked 2013 draft class at the top of the first round, sources have indicated to CSNNE.com that the Bruins are listening to trade offers for their coveted young player. A league source indicated to CSNNE.com that it would take a “king’s ransom” to get the Bruins to move on Seguin, and that a top-10 first round pick in this year’s draft would most certainly have to part of the trade package.

Any deal for Seguin would almost certainly include an All-Star level roster player as well
given what Seguin represents: a young forward who still has all the potential in the world, has scored 56 goals and 121 in essentially two and a half NHL seasons and is locked into a six-year deal that will start paying him $5.75 million per season beginning next year.

Dont buy high - it rarely works and has a very low success rate.

2nd overall pick from a good draft. Still young and has shown some great flashes of becoming a stud.

I'd overpay a tad and try to get him. This guy has the potential to be a top line C. In Toronto, he might just be one. Imagine him on the same line with Kessel.

that translates to

"we gave up an all star, and a game changer to get this pick, and he didn't pan out and we want one back."

The point would be ensuring you get the player, all this stuff about him wanting to come to the leafs is just speculation and a lot can change in a year. Now whether or not you think Letang is a good fit and worth spending assets on securing is a different discussion, but there is a point in trading assets for him.

Why didn't Carolina just wait for Jordan Staal?

Honestly, Neither.

Nonis is the better GM at trading no doubt, he is also more respected.
Gillis is more of a contract master (minus 1 awful luongo deal). He has a ton of baggage.

I think the canucks need somebody completely off the board as a GM, Dono a name tho.

Also I think nonis is doing a great job in toronto

Honestly, Luongo contract wasn't bad at the time of the signing. NHL's stupid after the fact cap recapture penalty and Vancouver's focus on playing Schneider while holding that contract is what turned this into a crap situation.

And this is coming from someone who has an irrational desire to punch Gillis in his arrogant face.

Anyway as far as the Leafs are concerned, I'm surprised at the lack of interest in Seguin in here. Kid's still really young and I'm confident he'll sort through the issues. I would give up quite a bit to see Seguin in the blue and white.

As for Lecavalier, I'd like to see it but I honestly doubt he'll be here. I think Weiss/Clarkson are much more realistic for Toronto, or trading for Stastny.

I'd love to see Scuderi here too but I bet he ends up back in LA or on the Islanders to be honest. Ference might not be a bad backup plan depending on price.
