2013 Free Agency & Offseason Thread II

Can Lars Eller play the LW? He is the only guy who seems to make any sense value wise, and even then, the Kings would need to be adding, and likely a significant piece. The Kings aren't getting Patches or Gallagher for a fourth liner (not sure if people were serious)
Eller in intriguing, he's got talent and potential.

When I was talking about Pacioretty, of course I was kidding

I don't know. I am more in your camp that Clifford should not have much value, especially based on how he looked at the end of last year. But some seem to think he has pretty good value, and maybe a team like MTL thinks they could get his development back on track. Although it seems odd, because they have a similar player in prust.

Habs fan coming in peace !

Clifford isn't anywhere close to Eller's value, strong on faceoffs, great offensive potential, size and speed, etc...

So LA would need to add but that wouldn't make much sense. If Clifford comes over it will be for a pick or a low salary project type player. Then again it's Eklund, the only reason this has an ounce of credibility because Carcillo was moved.

Pacioretty is exactly who the Kings need, a young, 30 goal, left shot LW. But they aren't moving him, and certainly not for Kyle Clifford.

Herby if we acquire Patches, where are we throwing the party? We need a Michigan guy to fill the hole since Jack left. And Max would be PERFECT for this team.

I will be furious. Clifford is a better fighter, player and teammate than Carcillo.

But Clifford never played for the Flyers. There will come a day when every King player will have at one timed played for the Flyers. Only then will DL truly be happy.

That's true, but the price would be too steep for us. Besides, the Habs are already a team of dwarfs, they can't trade their only power forward.

Oh trust me I know. Max is a pipe dream. But if they're willing to move him, I'd be willing to overpay.

They just signed him to a long-term contract. He is the core of their future.

Why would Montreal move him unless Holmgren or Tambellini injected some of their blood into Bergevin while he was sleeping?

Define overpaying

Open the cupboard to the Habs. Supermarket Sweep for them until they're happy.

Not trying to be rude but re-read what I said. I know 100% that Max isn't going anywhere. He's just a guy I absolutely love and would overpay IF for some crazy reason he did become available. Just making a statement. :)

Re-read what I wrote too. Obviously it was tongue-in-cheek.

Outside of Patches and Eller, I can't see anyone else on MTL we would even have interest in.

Not good trading partners, really, so there would have to be a 3rd team involved.

Edmonton fan here, just wondering what it would take for the Oilers to aquire. I'm assuming the kings wouldn't want to take back much salary. Would a 3rd this year and a prospect do it?

I wonder who we are trading or to what. We have many expendable players.

2nd and a good prospect might, but with players like these they often get more. Look how much BUF got for Kassian.

I would think that Clifford would be part of a bigger deal to get some top-6 help, given how many NHL level players the Kings have on their roster.

What about Hemsky for Clifford if the oilers ate some of the salary?

Chances are LA doesn't get a roster player in return for Clifford due largely because we have very little cap space. I'd be happy with Fucale and a 2nd rd pick from Montreal. A few yrs back Luc and others were also very high on Louis Leblanc
