2013 Free Agency & Offseason Thread II

Boston Bruins beat writer Kevin Paul Dupont tweeted that he wouldn't be surprised if the Bruins dealt Brad Marchand.

Suppose that Marchand is available, what type of package would you put together to acquire him? I'd hate to lose either one of Toffoli and/or Pearson, but if that's the price it takes (and I'm sure more along with that), then I would imagine it is one you'd have to strongly consider.

Marchand is 25 and locked up at an AAV of $4.5M until 2017. He's been a consistent performer during the regular season and playoffs and would address the team's woes for a top six LW. And he's fast and skilled too.

^ I'd package up whatever is necessary.

He'll cost too much. I'd love to have him though. He'd definitely help out the young guys. Wish we had the cap space.

Cripes. I'd hate to speculate on the price but he'd be perfect.

I would throw Face Wash's chihuahua in on the deal as well

Have to open up some cap space to do it. Williams might have to be going back. Plus other, younger players/prospects/picks.

I'd love that fit for the 2nd Line LW. And I can see why that speculation would be out there, due to the Bruins CAp situation and Rask (not to mention Bergeron). Rask is looking for something like 7 mill x 8 years and Bergeron (on his llast year) will get a term just as long in the 6.5 range.
If they're looking to clear space, I don't think they'd want to take on salary . So it would probably be a top prospect like TT and a high draft pick.

I don't think we have the cap, but that's the kind of trade you shed a top prospect for. Definitely.

He wouldn't just bring scoring but he would give our team some attitude. That being said, you know there's a GM out there who would give their best forward prospect, another good prospect, and a 1st. So...

Man I love Williams, but if Marchand is indeed available, and I were DL, id be hard at work trying to package Williams+ to get Marchand. He's exactly what we are looking for, and with Toffoli coming up, he can replace JDub. Lewis can slot in at 3rd line RW. Not to mention JDubs contract only has a couple years left on it.

Lets say Jdub, Muzzin, and a solid pick in next years draft for Marchand

Marchand 5'9'' 0Pts in the cup finals signed for $4.5mio/yr. Do not want dumbass ratface on the Kings.

I'm VERY hesitant to trade Toffoli, though. Toffoli is the epitome of a Dean Lombardi player. Brad Marchand has (rumored) attitude problems. I would trade any other prospect, but not Toffoli.

Well if boston wanted williams for marchand striaght across I'd consider it for sure but if ur adding toffolli or a 1st nope not worth it us. We have a good farm system with players coming up. I really think toffolli is a keeper and will be a scoring option for years to come, I'd hate to see him go so soon after waiting this long for him to make it to the nhl. Also I say no to tradeing any first round picks, We as a team need to be drafting younger players to plug into the team as needs araise. 1st round picks are the best options normally to play.
Also we dont have our 2nd in both the next two years so that makes our first more important imo. yes i know we got a toronto 2nd in one bet still i dont see us depending on getting it next year.

If a deal like this were to happen, which it won't (but hey, it's getting to be that time in the off-season), you better believe Toffoli would be involved. Probably something like Toffoli, at least 1 1st round pick, 2nd round pick (from a 3rd team for Williams) and a young Defenseman.

Boston wouldn't want Williams for themselves because the whole point of possibly moving Marchand would be to clear cap space for the impending Rask & Bergeron long-term deals.

We wouldn't be able to afford him without moving one of Stoll or Williams, of the two, I would believe Boston would want Williams. That's why I included him, but yes, it wouldn't do them much good as far as relieving cap space goes.

Which is why Williams could be swung to a 3rd team to provide extra assets to include.

Get a clue. Playoffs player. Perfect for the Kings.
There's a reason Chiarelli is shopping him. Questionable attitude, small player with concussion history that plays the agitator role which is quite risky because he can't back it up with his midget size. If by playoff you mean that he's a dirty player that was MIA vs CHI...

The reason Chia is shopping him is because he doesn't have many expendable pieces to clear cap room for Rask and Bergeron with. Just like us!

It's either Marchand or Lucic who has to go.

A lot of that sounds like M. Richards to me, that worked out pretty well.

I love Marchand. What a great character guy and a pretty nice person too.

It would take more to get him then we can afford to give. I wouldn't deal Toffoli for him and the B's would want at least TT. I wouldn't deal JW for him as part of a deal either. I love BMarch but the cost will be significant for certain. If we knew that Stoll was done (which we absolutely don't) then i could see us moving Vey and Cliffy as part of a deal but even then I don't know.

I am garbage at these sort of things anyways but my opinion is that we just can't afford to pick up BMarch without making some big changes to our line up and our depth. If DL could figure a way to make it happen where we would be able to easily absorb the cost then yeeehaw but I don't see it.

I would like Lucic too but the same set of circumstances apply so again I don't see it happening.

Cook24 just listed our roster and payroll with the minimum raises (take out Marchand). Kings are not adding anyone. So everyone can stop with these ridiculous UFA proposals. We have barely any cap after we lock up our RFA's. Lombardi does not want to be in that spot.

I see him dealing a player just for a pick to clear up space and keep that space open later. He mentioned he likes to do that...keep cap space open until the trade deadline.

Why JU?

I mean I don't think anyone is being too serious about anything and it is the offseason. This is when people are supposed to make these sort of proposals and dream about what we would like to see happen because when Sept rolls around it is back to bus and the daydreams of summer will be blown away by the first cold wind of October.

And by then we will be right about set with the same roster we have today (save our building from within).
