2013 Free Agency & Offseason Thread II

Jaromir Jagr's agent says three teams are ''very interested'' in his 41-year-old client.
I wonder where he'll end up.

Funny thing is that when you look at the list of all UFA players, Jagr has most points and goals (regular season). I will always cheer for him. What a legend.

Encouraging to hear about Vey. So not quite a Trevor Lewis, but could we also say not as good as Brayden Schenn?

Dustin Brown would have no problem getting Six Million as an UFA.

The Rumor was that when Brown's name was floated about being traded, every single GM in the league was calling Dean Lombardi.

That whole rumor got started by scouts talking about hypothetical guys being traded, just like every season. Some beat writer picked up on it and then...boom!

Brown will get more than 6 on the open market.

Nope. I don't give a **** if he was a fourth rounder. The prospect he has become now is quite good. For his game to translate at the NHL level as Trevor Lewis would be disappointing.

Absolutely correct.

He has either lead or been right near the top of being the top scorer in every league he has played in. He has a solid two way game and can even play RW when needed.

I think Lewis still has game to show us but if TL tops out at where LV is today I will be surprised. Vey is the real deal. He should be our 2b/3a C/RW for the next ten years in the near future and a very good one at that.

2 more years and he's ours...

For whatever reason I always thought that he was a playmaking right wing that was converted to center because I recall a lot of player profiles and NHL.com listings at the time he was taken saying that he was a right wing.

Did he play out of position for a season or two when Medicine Hat still had Tyler Ennis on their team? My memory is fuzzy on the subject, but I thought the two guys played on the same line as a one-two punch for the Tigers way back when.

LV and Ennis both played C at times but he (LV) played wing more often than not. He was a C before his move to MedHat or played C most of the time. Vey can even play LW with success though not as well as C and RW.

Now that he has been playing C again he has proven himself to be a good one but, he could easily end up on the wing in the NHL. I always place him as a 3a/2b C because I think he would be scary good in that role within a couple of seasons with the Kings.

But I see LV as only being very slightly less talented than TT in so far as their potential goes.

If the Kings re-sign all of their RFAs who were with the team last season, the team will have 24 contracted players on the roster: 13 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders.

One or two defensemen will be jettisoned to Manchester or elsewhere. I think the battle for the 7th and 8th spot will come down to Martinez, Ellerby, or Schultz. Muzzin seems to have the inside track as the left handed defenseman on the third pairing with Matt Greene. And this is under the assumption that Willie Mitchell will be ready to play on opening night.

I'm nipping this in the bud now because we have too many arguments about it.

Matt Barry does not write for Hockey Buzz or any other media outlet anymore, which means his rumors do not have to be accepted here anymore. And they are not going to be until he proves his source to an administrator here.

We are going to delete them from now on.

Thanks for the heads up.

I unfollowed him a long time ago. Was a smart decision.

I know im in the minority but i like his rumours and think people have the right to post them if they want. As for him retiring from hockey buzz I dont think hes totally done there.

As for me, I will be retiring from HB – I’ll chime in from time to time but you deserve a boring Kings writer, one who wont piss you off, one you wont call “worst blogger ever.†One who will make you beg for me to return. You’ll miss me. It’s okay. I’ll be back every now and then and all I have to do is type, “What’s So Great About the Montreal Canadiens?†and it’s a guaranteed 200 replies.

this is a quote from his last blog. I ask u with all respect is someone done if he can still chim in from time to time. He has his own blog now how is this any different from him at hockey buzz. Hes still the same writter with whatever connection he has. I am curious what the difference is now that hes on his own. He has give us some information before main stream media mostly injuries.

You showed me respect, so I will show you respect and give you an answer.

People who are affiliated with HockeyBuzz are able to post stuff here to a degree. On the team forums, if the moderators do not believe the writers carry validity, they deal with as appropriate. People who have never worked for a newspaper and have their own blog are not able to have their rumors posted here unless we are confident of the validity of their sources. If he wants to have his stuff posted here, he can tell an administrator (me), his sources. I don't tell people.

Otherwise, that's that. They seem to cause more friction here over things that don't happen than us talking about stuff that eventually happens.

Again not trying to cause trouble his stuff is still accessable on hockey buzz and hes said he will chime in from time to time to me this means hes still apart of hockey buzz. So why the quick band ? Whats the major difference between hockey buzz and his column? I thought this was a place were we can talk about hockey rumours. Imo its no different if i say i think the kings should go after perron and to say perron is going to the kings from barry, The bases of the rumour who cares if its me saying it or barry?

Because Barry tries to pass his rumours off as fact and they clearly aren't. The guy lies about everything, makes racist and gay comments to his commenters, and has nothing to do with the Kings. If you want to hear his rumours i suggest follow him on Twitter or read his blog.

Name one Matt Barry trade rumor that he was right about. Otherwise, please stop talking about him and his rumors. Did anyone have the Kings bringing Ellerby back or signing Jeff Schultz? No, of course not, just as nobody had any clue the Kings would trade up to the high 2nd round at the draft and how nobody had any clue that Bobby Ryan was heading to Ottawa and that discussions about the trade had been going on for weeks. None of these so called insiders had Lecavalier signing with Philly. I can go on and on.

That's why you shouldn't be so gullible and believe in the crap being spewed by random bloggers on HockeyBuzz or by anonymous bloggers who claim to have well placed sources but seem to get everything wrong.

Barry has said outragous statements for sure but hes also brought alot of information before main stream media. I would like to point out he was the first person to say willie mitchel would be a king. He also was the one to point out drew and mike richards had concusions Also seem to recall him saying stoll was concused as well. Theses were not lies. I follow and read his blogs and I will continue to. I see no harm in briging up his ideas in forumns for discussions. He does have inside information despite your feelings about him.

The kings signing willie mitchell He was at least a week ahead of main stream media.

No he wasn't. A lot of media sources had mentioned the Kings along with the Sharks and Capitals as having had submitted offers to Mitchell. In fact, I remember Barry saying that Mitchell wouldn't sign with the Kings because the Kings always fail in bidding wars. He wrote that himself. You can go ahead and believe what you want to believe. I'm sure if he wrote that the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus were real you'd buy that too.

Barry is very good with injury reports. I wouldn't doubt that he knows someone on the Kings training staff or at least someone closely affiliated with them.

His trade speculation, on the other hand, is like telephone psychics - for entertainment purposes only. It's very obvious that he has no source as far as that goes. It's the opposite, it's like he doesn't even understand DL's philosophies and what he holds important.
