Super excited about the (potential?) release of TC roster today.

Wow, what a day we got infront of us. ;)

Holy ****. You weren't joking around.

I mailed the hosts of the TC and asked when the roster would be out. I am not hitting the sack before its out. May it be tonight, tomorrow or monday. I am on this till the end.

Ola - This is the answer to your question that I received from our Executive Director:

"The rosters from the respective prospect tournament teams are property of that team. I would recommend contacting the PR dept of the NYR to see if it has been released. As soon as our social media staff see that it has been released we will do so on twitter @redwingscamps. However, we have no control over when that will be."

I hope that helps.

Thank you,

Hi!

Do you know when New York Ranger’s roster for the TC Prospect Tournament will be submitted / released? Where it can be found?

Best regards
Ola

Edit: Ah F it. I am too tired. Over and out.

Quick thought.
With the Rangers most likely missing Hagelin & Callahan at the start of the season, prospects are going to be given a shot to make the team. Most posters (from what I've read/heard) are seeing Kristo, Miller, Fast, & Lindberg taking those spots. But has anyone forgot about Marek Hrivik? If my memory serves me correctly, the Rangers were going to bring him to training camp after the lockout, but his concussion ended those chances. They seem to have some serious interest in him, but I haven't heard anything on him in a while. Anyone have any information on his status & if you agree if he could grab a spot on NYR this year?

I wouldn't rule him out either. Hrivik is a good hockey player for sure.

Hrivik has as good of a chance as anyone to make the team. For some reason, like you said, he is a sleeper around here. Big kid, with good hands, and good 2-way play.

No one forgets about Hrvik - look how high he is ranked among our prospects. I think it is widely acknowledged that he is going to compete for the spot with the Rangers this season.

I wouldn't say he's that high. IMHO he should be a little higher on our rankings. Say 6 or 7. I think Kristo isn't really proven yet (although he is def proven from an NCAA stand point). Danny hasn't really gotten a feel yet in the minors so I feel that Hrivik should switch with Kristo on the rankings, but don't get me wrong Kristo is going to be a very very solid player in the future. Hrivik does seem like a sleeper. I'm sure he can make it out of camp if healthy. He can score and play defensively, too. Should be fun. Just cant wait for Traverse City Tourney. Did the roster come out yet? Would Hrivik be eligible to play?

How is sleep deprivation treating you?

Hehe, see my edit above.

I was fairly certain to be stuck at work all night, and figured odds where good for the roster to come out Thursday or Friday. When the work front cleared up I was fairly fast to give up those plans... ;)

Look, this is unconfirmed rumblings as of now, but I heard that blueshirtsunited.com might post a Q&A with Pyatt later tonight.

That's like being told you're going to meet one of the Beatles and it turns out to be Pete Best.

Tolchinsky update Aug 19

Tolchinsky may not make it to NYR Traverse City squad - if he signs with 'Canes, his only NHL alternative this year:

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
Rutherford said Canes are trying to sign Sergei Tolchinsky, an invitee to prospects camp. Also should have decision soon.

Good for Sergei... he ought to jump on that deal if he can get it. I would have liked to get him, but the Rangers contract number is pretty high, and he's pretty small.

I don't know if this is appropriate for your "prospects" thread, but I was just wondering what your thoughts/expectations re JT Miller were for the upcoming season...is he being projected (at least by you guys) to spend the entire year w/ NYR. Do you have any sense of the role he might play (assuming he stays up with New York) and how the coaching change might affect his usage and development?

btw, i really like him - obviously i haven't seen him a ton personally (just when he was in the OHL, WJC, and a bit in NY last year) but I like him a lot and think he's overlooked a bit when people on these boards discuss promising prospects :dunno:

There's a possibility he makes the team this year, but bearing a very strong camp I doubt he stays the whole year (Hagelin and Callahan will more than likely miss the beginning of the season due to shoulder surgery). They might go with Jesper Fast, Oscar Lindberg, and Danny Kristo as callups this year, just a hunch. I have a lot of faith he makes the team for 2014-2015 when we unload contracts during FA. I really like the kid though, think he has a great future in the NHL

Tolchinsky did sign ELC with 'Canes today,
I'm not including a link because its public and noted everywhere.
NYR were smart for being prudent, we'll see if turns out to Pavel Brendl or Marty St Louis ...

do you think he has top 6 upside? granted my 'watching' of him has been limited to OHL, a couple of int'l events (that you can catch in Canada) and him last year with the Rangers...but I was figuring he probably did. Then my more knowledgeable NYR-fan friend told me that you projected him as a 3rd line guy at best.

That's the worst case scenario. He was undoubtedly a "safe pick" when we took him 15th overall in 2011, it's almost out of the question that he will make the NHL in some kind of role. He has more upside than a 3rd liner, although I think 1st liner is a stretch. He plays like a more aggressive Tyler Bozak. Good defensively, does a lot of little things that people don't notice, and has talent, but based on points should be a second liner. In my opinion, his points ceiling in the NHL is around 40-50, maybe 60, but it's (like Tyler Bozak, among others) other things he does, like his defensive play, and his physicality (he's also got quite an attitude, the good kind) make him the kind of top 6 player every team wants.

These kinds of things are always difficult to figure out. I think many would have called someone like Ryan Callahan a third-liner "at best" at one point, and yet here is he knocking on the door of 30 goals. The "safest" projection for Miller is as a 2nd-3rd line tweener. It wouldn't be this jaw dropping, against-all-odds type of thing if Miller did become a 1st liner, but I wouldn't bank on it. I don't think Bozak is at all a good comparison for him. The player he resembles well is Brandon Dubinsky. High energy guy who battles every shift and does his part defensively/on the penalty kill but also has enough finesse in his game to be a 22-25 goal, 50-55 point guy.

Dubinsky is a much better comparable. You're right.

You cant compare it to Brendl. Brendl was a first round 4th overall pick bust. Tolchinsky is an undrafted FA. We just did not have enough spare contracts to warrant signing him. I would say 19 out of 20 Undrafted signees bust. Girardi and St. Louis are the exception

When signing undrafted FAs are the same philosophy of late round drafting, There are one or two things the scouts like about this player. If there is enough things the scouts like, a player will get an offer. Same as late round drafting, They look at these players as what do they like about them. They don't ask the question of what are his downsides.

Its like a Fisherman putting out a bunch of Baited hooks into the ocean figuring he will catch the big fish with one of them.
