McNaught was kind of a better skating version of Derek Booggard. His skating was okay--the problem was he sucked as a player. He was very tough though.

Personally I like the idea of the Rangers being a tough club--having numerous options of guys who can throw down but these guys still have to be decent hockey players and with some intelligence to make it truly worthwhile. That's not an easy combination to find in an individual player. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of hockey players who can fight well--the problem is finding the ones who can actually play at the NHL level. McNaught belonged to the group of hundreds if not thousands. McIlrath is an example of a guy who will most probably belong to the group of those who can enforce and can play.

The Pack wings looks really strong, but the centers are weak. Lindberg and MSC are likely to center the top two lines, and both are rookies. I'm not that excited about Jean, and who will be our 4th line center anyway? Wish we had re-signed Wiebe.

What if Miller doesn't make the Rangers?

It may be that 2 out of Haley/Powe/Miller will be in Hartford, also its not unusual in minors to slide a skilled wing to C, I could see Kristo, Yogan or Hrivik doing shifts at C

Thanks, O Captain, my Captain.

I think it woulda been much closer w/o that injury.

I guess into every life, every so often, some Tysen Dowzak must fall.:D:naughty::laugh::cry:

You're the best, bern. If only the majority of posters here could laugh at themselves. We'd be much better off.

Anyway, I was a McNaught fan as well. Getting assigned to the CHL is pretty much a death blow for any prospect though. Once you're down there, you can kiss your chances goodbye. That ankle injury really ****ed him up.

He barely had a chance anyway. The only teams still employing pure goons are the teams still living in 1995. The Blackhawks use Shaw. The Bruins use Thornton. The Kings use Clifford. Teams that are serious about winning the Cup employ fighters who are useful in multiple facets of the game. McNaught was born 15 years too late.

Bold: I can't accept this award...:) ... on the other hand, who am I to argue with my captain?:yo::naughty::D:D

Underline: Yeah, my thinking is 4th line MAYBE 3rd, but realistically 4th min minutes. Strong like a bull. Skills subpar, but originally enuf for you to hope he was a diamond in the rough, and with enough to do 4th line duties.

cue up the music,
well I used to {whatever, believe that}
BUT IT'S ALL OVER NOW.

I thought his power skating north south with a head of steam was cause for optimism; assumed the worst was east-west, esp. after the injury.

So people are saying it was his skills, huh.
I guess you guys would know, I guess his capacity to learn and better execute his skills are beyond his capacity.

Have some fun disagreeing with Corey, guys

Eh, no surprises there. Pronman has always had a thing for St. Croix, and never warmed up to the McIlrath pick either. He'll ride his opinion until the very end, though, so you gotta respect him for that.

I would give Pronman props for being different. But he does it in such a "hipster" way. Different for the sake of being different.

There is zero reason to have St Croix and Buchenevich above Lindberg and even less to have Duclair above Nieves.

And this is the reason we have to keep his crap every year.

Don't need to respect his opinion if it flat out sucks.

Additionally:
There's also an 11-15 on his list. JT Miller has graduated from prospect status because he played 26 games in the NHL this season.

11. Marek Hrivik
12. Steven Fogarty
13. Calle Andersson
14. Josh Nicholls
15. Adam Tambellini

Sleeper: Conor Allen

9-11. RT @MathieuMeunier: @coreypronman Where would C. Thomas have been in the NYR ranking had he not been traded?

Im just curious about how u guys feel about the Mcilwrath pick now that the dust has settled. Obviously 95% of us were choked about the off the board pick.. but i personally would not have it any other way now. He is exactly what the rangers need. It may be another 2 years before we see him in blue.. but thats better than watching trainwreck fowler

Oh no...oh nonononono! NO!!!!! Not again please! No! NO! PLEEEAAAAASSEEE!

...My glasses are broken and I also have some rare form of chaotic vertical dyslexia apparently that's my only explanation for this list

why does every website horrifically rank our prospects?

How can we say he or anyone else's rankings are "horrific"? We can't see into the future. In 2008 if Corey Pronman declared that Carl Hagelin was a superior prospect to Zach Hamill he would have been viewed as a moron... yet it would have been spot on. Excluding something mindnumbingly stupid like having Jason Wilson the top ranked prospect, rankings are something we can only evaluate in hindsight.

Severstal played their first regular season game today. Pavel Buchnevich played almost 17 minutes, had 5 shots on goal and was scoreless. Good that he's getting real minutes.

5 SOG is really impressive. Flashy skills aren't of much use if they don't lead to scoring chances, Buchnevich seems to have been in the thick of it.

Our other two European players start soon as well. Spelling and SønderjyskE start on the 20th, Andersson and Malmö start on the 12th.
