Skapper stopped 28 of 30 shots last night; unfortunately, the second goal he allowed came with 36 seconds to go and Kootenay lost 2-1. The series with Medicine Hat is tied 3-3, with Game 7 tomorrow night.

The Union defense owned the BC offense in their game in the Frozen Four. The Gophers experienced the same fate. That group was solid. From what I remember, their top 4 derived their success. The reaction on twitter is that Bodie was statistically better than their most hyped player, Shane Gostisbehere, but is also 3 years older.

He could be a steal. Gives us even more defensive depth. This is great news.

I have watched a dozen or so Union games this season since I am a Flyers fan and I like to watch Gostisbehere play. Bodie is a very good player, at that level. He is undersized and doesn't have the same speed or elusiveness as Gostisbehere, nor does he have the same potential. However, he is a smart player and takes many chances in the offensive zone. His defensive game is decent for his size, but he is prone to mistakes. If he can develop his defensive game with one season in the AHL, and add 10-15 lbs at least, he could make a nice bottom pairing defenseman, who can stabilize a 2nd unit PP.

Thanks for the input, I definitely agree with your take on MB.

Duclair cleared to start skating again according to his Twitter

That means he's ok. He's lucky that it happened late in the season and he feels no pressure to return. A full half a year off will be plenty for his brain to heal.

Yeah no more hockey for him, but a long long time to hit the gym and put on some more muscle mass. I look at it as a blessing in disguise because if he were to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle, which from here till September is very possible, he'd make a run for a 9 game trial.

The Duke's got about 6 months till he hits the ice for some game action, plenty of time to allow himself to physically mature. If he doesn't make the big club, the Remparts are in for one hell of a season from him, with a run at the memmer.

Stats in the first post have been updated.

Greenville is tied 1-1 in their first round playoff series. None of our kids (Jean, Nicholls, Noreau, St. Croix, Yogan) have recorded a point yet. Missiaen started both games thus far and apparently played well. Game Three is Wednesday night.

Erie and Troy Donnay dropped the first two games of the West Finals to Guelph. Erie conceded 12 goals total, though Donnay is just a -1 through those games. Erie is back home tonight and tomorrow.

Ryan Graves and Val-D'Or are up 2-0 on Halifax (Drouin), winning the first two on the road. Gotta think they're the favorites to win it all at this point. Game Three is tomorrow.

Everyone else is done.

Halifax got one back tonight against Graves and Val-d'Or. Lost in OT 6-5 after going up 4-1 in the first period and being up 5-1 5 minutes into the 2nd. Graves was one of two players on his team with a plus rating.

Well this is interesting, no?

Eh, is it? Denmark's best skater is Mikkel Bodker, followed by Jannik Hansen. Then they have Nicklas Jensen, a first round pick from a few years ago. Beyond that they have no recent NHL draft picks or NHL players. It's a nice honor being selected to play for your country, but the Danish team isn't particularly good.

To be fair, the same was said about MZA and Norway at one point.

You're right, and he could conceivably take an MZA-like journey to an NHL career. We both know, though, that that scenario is extremely unlikely. I'm not writing off Spelling as a prospect, but him getting fourth line minutes (maybe) on a mediocre-at-best WC squad doesn't do much for me.

I am not disagreeing, I too believe that Spelling is a long-shot to make the NHL, but having him play at this young age against top teams like Canada, Sweden and Czech Rep is a tremendous experience for him. It would also be a good way for us to gauge where he is on the development scale. If he's capable of holding his own, he's a real prospect. If he looks lost out there, we will need to temper our hopes even further.

Exactly what I was thinking. The post also said that he might be playing 4th line minutes, but that could change as the tourney goes on. We'll wait and see.

Val-d'Or and Ryan Graves won last night against Halifax to force a Game Seven, which is tonight. Graves was +2. The other series is Baie-Comeau against Blainville-Boisbriand, also playing a Game Seven tonight. Winners meet for the President's Cup.

Val-d'Or was outshot 41-16 last night, but managed to win Game Seven of their Conference Final against Halifax. They'll move onto the finals against Baie-Comeau, who are completely devoid of star power yet won the regular season title and swept their first two playoff series. Great experience for Ryan Graves. If Val-d'Or can win, he'll also get to play in the Memorial Cup next month.

Greenville beat Kalamazoo last night to win their first round series. Next they play the Wheeling Nailers. Interestingly, in the ECHL's Eastern Conference, the 1-4 seeds all lost to the 5-8 seeds. Greenville won as the 7 seed. Even in the Western Conference, the 2 and 3 seeds went down. Playoffs, man...

Not sure but do the AHL clubs callup ECHL players for the playoffs, taking away some of the top ECHL players? Could be why so many top seeds don't look it come playoff time.

Great news for Graves though, that is an amazing game 7 win, Bibeau looks like a 6th round steal for the Leafs.

Not so sure Baie Comeau is void of stars - Gregoire, Hudon, Zykov are all legit prospects and Gorbunov, Vanier and Cadorette are hot future draftees/FA's.
