Prospect Info: 2013-2014 Rangers Prospects Thread *Part IV* (Player Stats in Post #1; Updated 6/17)

Hrivik had a ****** year in Hartford, but in my opinion he played quite a bit better than his production indicated.

He didn't play with any skilled players in Hartford this year. Saw mostly 3rd line minutes. Don't know if Gernander doesn't like him, or they simply wanted him to work on his two way game, but I would have liked to see him play more with Miller, Kristo, Lindberg, and Fast as there is offensive upside to his game.

Certainly not a game breaker, but I feel Hrivik has a professional hockey career ahead of him. His profile isn't high enough to warrant a trade because the value isn't there, but I was hoping he would pile up the stats to generate some interest as a trade chip.

I think Hrivik can contribute more in the NHL next year than Kristo because you can count on Hrivik to give you a mistake free 10-12 minutes a night and do the little things to help the team win. There's enough there for him to become a Drew Miller type of player.
 
In 12-13 Hrivik's first real pro season which was cut short by injury he did 26 points in 40 games. This year he put up 27 points in 74 games--so there was definitely a step back in production in his second season which was pretty much injury free.

Apart from the 11-12 AHL playoffs in which he put up a lot of goals--most of his points tend to be assists. He's not really proven to have a goal scorer's aptitude. He has the size and enough skill to make it as an NHL 4th liner in the right circumstances. Skating was an issue a couple years ago--I'm not really sure where he is now with that. He strikes me as a younger version of Taylor Pyatt.
 
Hrivík will play center on the first line tomorrow, his linemates will be veterans Miroslav Šatan and Ladislav Nagy. The final roster will be announced right after the game.

He's been on the wing his entire time in HFD. If Hrivik can somehow turn into a playmaking center, then the Rangers really need to give him a long look.

Right now he has 3 forwards ahead of him in the farm system with the Rangers.

Miller and Fast are in the NHL now (13th and 14th forward).

Then there is Lindberg, but Hrivik is right behind them depending on how ready Duclair is, who at best might get a couple of long looks in pre-season, and maybe push for a 9 game trial.

I will try and catch the World Championship and keep and eye out for him. If Hrivik can score points, and with another season off season training, he might be a dark horse to push someone out of the line up.

In terms of the role he can fill, yes as a bottom 6 winger that can provide solid minutes, but Taylor Pyatt can barely skate, while Hrivik is a very good skater. Not elite, doesn't have that 5th gear, but he has a man sized body, will work the boards, and block shots, while possessing a decent amount of puck skills.

If was in the EDM farm system, he would be an every day NHLer on their 3rd line.

He said, that he played as a center in second half of the season.
 
Honestly, I'm really hoping Hrivik can turn it around some how. It will definitely look really good if he makes this Slovakian WC team (I don't know if it was confirmed that he was on the team yet).
 
Val-d'Or won in OT today to level their series at 1-1 with Baie-Comeau. It's the President's Cup finals. Winner also gets a spot in the Memorial Cup.
 
The fact Duclair wasn't on the top 50 prospect list further proves how bad the HF prospect list is as well as the anti NY bias.

HF's. Duclair has been lauded as a top 3 player in the Q this past season after Mantha and Drouin. It's pretty much a clique deciding what's what, which is pretty much how the HF community works.

Our own HF writer (Leslie Treff) ranked Duclair fourth in our system. Why, then, would anyone expect our fourth-ranked prospect to be in a league-wide top 50?

True, I don't think Danny Kristo would even be on the radar for an hon mention. Really the guy that deserved the nod is Miller.

If you look at the prospectsin the AHL at a PPG... you see Miller in some pretty nice company.

If Emile Poirer makes the cut, then Duclair deserved it, he certainly had a much better season than Poirer. But it's all semantics as far as I'm concerned. Only thing that matters is how they contribute at the pro level.

JT Miller showed up in a pivotal playoff game for the Rangers in the Flyers series. I don't know of how many prospects on that list can lay claim to doing that this playoff season.
 
So, now HF has an anti-Rangers agenda? Grow up, compared to others teams Prospects, ours just aren't as good as you think. I don't think you would find 5 teams in the league willing to trade their prospects for ours. Which, you know, is normal, since Sather's going for it since 2011-12.
Regardless, anybody's rankings don't mean ****. Guys pan out or they don't pan out. Rankings are indicating potential and the probability of guys reaching their potential. Probability doesn't mean much to one single case.
 
Leslie with an article today at HF on the Rangers college and European prospects.

More or less--Skjei developing better than expected--maybe one more year at Minnesota U. before turning pro.
Nieves kind of a mediocre season--expect two more years at Michigan U.
Fogarty kind of a mediocre season--though he's rounded out his game more--the offense hasn't come around--expect two more seasons at Notre Dame U.

Buchnevich--doing just fine--has one more year contracted to his KHL team. Expect the Rangers to sign him after that.
Andersson--kind of a so-so year in Malmo but expects the Rangers to sign him this summer.
Spelling--the Rangers not happy with his Traverse City tournament last year nor his return to Denmark this season--find yourself another NHL team time.
 
I'm expecting alot from Brady Skjei next year. Ya know, with all this Ryan Mcdonagh comparison talk. Personally I think thats going a tad too far at this stage of his game.

Kid has a rocket shot. I'd like to see Minny try to get more out of him offensively.
