Really wish they would change that rule. Someone like duclair, or more prominent example like drouin, are clearly ready for the AHL.

At the same time, one has to consider how that would impact the CHL. Part of the reason there are prospects that develop nicely, is that the CHL has an incentive to develop those prospects. If those are taken away prematurely, there is no interest for junior leagues to do anymore than make the league interesting for 16-18 years old, and no one would benefit from it.

In this particular case, Duclair could benefit from playing an extra year in the Q so he can lead his team in the playoffs. I talk about what I know, and in the QMJHL, there are very few cases of players sticking for too long... Huberdeau is the most recent one, if the lockout had killed the NHL season. Drouin might be the next borderline case. Duclair doesn't seem to be, he has shown to be motivated up until his last game of the season, and I'm sure he's hungered enough for win.

Frozen 4 final tonight. Go Gophers. Should be a close game. Toss up. Union coach Rick Bennett is a former Ranger. He was supposed to a big power forward but never made it. Bennett has done a great job with that program. I am surprised none of the bigger schools have not tried to hire him. If this was college basketball or football,Bennett would have left Union by now. Does he want to coach pro hockey? The Rangers should be in the market for an AHL coach. The only person with more job security than Sather is Gernander.

FWIW Bennett is from Springfield Mass. Providence College where he went to as a player and later as an assistant coach is not that far away and neither is Union College which is in Schenectady NY. Hartford Connecticut is pretty much in the same general area.

Personally I'm not a fan of Gernander's. I would have gotten rid of him at least two years ago. That being said--once this team got some decent goaltending by adding Grumet-Morris and Leveneu and added some vet scoring in Hensick their season turned around. The Wolfpack have been winning a lot lately. Why they took so long to address the goaltending issues I don't know. Any one of Sather, Gorton, Schoenfeld, Allaire and Gernander could have just opened up and said 'You know, this is just ****ed up'. They sat on that problem way too long for the team to have any chance to get back in the playoff race.

100%. And it's inexplicable.

I still believe that Scott Stajcer could be a decent professional goalie if he could stay healthy for any extended period of time. He had the talent. The consistency, in theory, would come from experience. Unfortunately for him, goalies with chronic hip problems won't make it very far. Still, I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see him resurface with a few good AHL seasons down the line.

Definitely true to some extend, however it's a little different for goalies. More than any other position consistency is what separate goalies in tiers. A lot of goalies have an arsenal of amazing physical skills but not all are able not to lose concentration and stay consistent no matter what.

Completely agree with every single word. While it's on Gernander that he couldn't keep the young Pack team from spiraling out of control when they faced adversity after an excellent start of the season, the large issue for not making the play-offs was completeness of roster in general and goaltending in particular.

Just finished watching the Gophers fall to Union and Skjei should leave. Lucia is an idiot. Marshall and Reilly are brutal in their own zone and this dope kept throwing them out there while Brady sat and watched. I know they were down, but these guys are bad hockey players and if Brady can't get the respect after the year he had he needs to become a Ranger; Now. Not to mention that when he took the puck from behind his net and rushed up ice, Union couldn't stop him. There's some offense in there and Lucia is holding it back. Time to move on Brady.

Take a chill pill, bro. Skjei has been the team's most utilized defenseman for most of the season. He was having a ****** game, so he sat. It's not a big deal.

Duclair's concussion doesn't seem that bad. He was at the Bell Center tonight for the game. Usually when you have big symptoms, you can't go to places that are loud.

Great night with my boys at the bell center for the Rangers-Habs game!

Nash couldn't be in the press box after he got his first concussion. That's promising.

I know he's from Quebec but he better have been rooting for the Rangers!

I heard that the wolf pack doesn't run the same system as the rangers. Any truth to that? If it is true that incredibly stupid.... We should make the transition as easy as possible

Well, I have a feeling that the Wolf Pack coach needs to win first and then worry about the Rangers, no? I mean people are paying money to watch them play and if they don't have the personnel to run our system and lose that's not good.

He plays defense but he isn't as good as PK when he was in junior. He's small (5'9) but he's producing well in the OHL.

There's another Subban in the OHL named Marselis. He will be eligible for the NHL draft next summer. He's their cousin.

Minnesota got blitzed in the first period. Lets see what happens with Skjei. There is no rush to make a decision. The Pack aren't in the AHL playoffs and there are only 2 games left next week. The spring semester ends next month.
