Duclair failed a neurological exam on Tuesday and that's why he isn't playing. I don't think he still has symptoms. I guess they'll test him again next Tuesday. He's doing bike though.

Incredible season comes to a screeching halt. Terrific. But like I said, rather them take precaution than rush Duclair back for sake of one season.

Did anyone see Mike Reilly win big 10 defensive player of the year? I was kind of surprised since both dmen and forwards are eligible.

The big 10 website said "Reilly anchored the Minnesota defense...".

Reilly is a giveaway machine. He never should have made the WJC team and now this. this guy has friends in high places

players that play a simple game wont win awards, especially in juniors/ncaa. mcdonagh was under appreciated in college, while players such as brendan smith were hyped big time.

Minnesota will be the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Top seed in the west region which is in St.Paul. The Gophers home away from home rink. Single elimination starting on Saturday for the Gophers. They didn't play well in their last regular season game at Michigan and in the game against Ohio State.

Michigan is done. All of their chances to make the tournament are over. Second straight season for Michigan.

Selection show today at 11.

Sunday, Berenson hinted at the possibility that junior forwards Phil Di Giuseppe and Alex Guptill could bolt toward the National Hockey League this spring. As two integral parts of the Wolverines’ offense, Di Giuseppe and Guptill combined for 25 of the team’s 107 goals this season, and 49 of 281 points.

The Dallas Stars drafted Guptill in 2010, and the Carolina Hurricanes selected Di Giuseppe in 2012. While nothing is certain, Berenson doesn’t suspect any other non-seniors will be leaving the program before next season.

Developments involving players leaving early for the professional ranks don’t always come to fruition as they probably should. Berenson said some NHL teams are up front about their intentions involving college players, while others might not be.

“It’s not done face to face; it’s not done up front,” Berenson said. “It’s done before the fact, and then I find out that (an NHL team) has already made plans for our players.”

Boo Nieves had a good finish to his sophomore season. He improved his play in his own zone. Michigan will have Dylan Larkin next fall. Next season is a big year for that program.

The NY Times did a feature on college players last December

“A kid like Boo, we recruit him because of his offensive skill and potential,” Michigan Coach Red Berenson said. “And then we teach him how to play without the puck.”

UMass-Lowell ‪#‎RiverHawks‬ standout free agent D Christian Folin is rumored to be headed to ‪#‎TBLighning‬,Boston ‪#‎Bruins‬ or the Philadelphia

just great. thanks to Sather for having a bunch of players with NHL contracts in Hartford that are useless and are not considered prospects: Haley, Asham, Jean guys who have no future on the Rangers..

so Rangers will miss out on the rest of the young junior college free agents thanks to the contract limit.. anyone will want an NHL contract for this year will have to be signed by a different team..

TBL have 52 players under contract, with 2 sliding. Same as we do. So....?

Boo is an interesting player, and I really love the fact that he went to college.

In my mind, I feel he's the kind of player that will top out at around ~50 points but wouldn't find a place in the league if he didn't have a defensive game.

If he can become a 2 way center man with good hands and playmaking ability (~50 points) then he instantly jumps from being a NHL tweener to very valuable player.

Folin, like Sustr, is going to want to sign somewhere where he can get a shot right away.

NYR have from 1 to 6 one of the deeper Defenses in the league. The Blues, Chicago, maybe Boston have better ones.

There are a bunch of free agent college D-men worth looking at who may turn out to be as good as or better than Folin. If the Rangers just get one of them I'll be more than happy.

Topping the list in no particular order:

there's Folin
Kenney Morrison-Western Michigan U.
Ahti Oksanen-Boston U.
Trevor Van Riemsdyk-New Hampshire U.
Jordan Oesterle-Western Michigan U.

and then there is:

David Makowski-Denver U.
Justin Baker-St. Lawrence U.
Matt Bodie-Union College
Shayne Taker-Notre Dame U.
Oleg Yevenko-U. Mass Amherst
Ralfs Freibergs-Bowling Green St. U. and he played for the Latvian Olympic team.

Yevenko is huge and very much more of a project IMO.

There are 30 teams bidding for these players. Some of them are not going to want to play in New York for a variety of reasons. Might prefer the west or midwest. Might not like huge cities. Might think their chances are better with other teams.

Any good PMD among those?

Baker has some major, major flaws in his game that need to be worked out before he can even sniff an NHL top six.

Bob McKenzie has Folin as the most NHL ready NCAA prospect, which is part of the reason for the hype. TVR has some areas to imrpve on as well.

yup..... oh well. i hope Haggerty was not the only college signing, can use another dman and goalie..

The main thing is to get good players. There are numerous college goalies:

Ryan Faragher--St. Cloud St--who's been to a Rangers development camp
CJ Motte--Ferris St.
Steve Summerhays--Notre Dame U.
Joel Rumpel--Wisconsin U.
Clay Witt-Northeastern U.
Ryan McKay--U Miami Ohio
Doug Carr--U Mass Lowell

There are some CHL guys and if I had to pick just one it would be Zach Bell a right D for London-OHL. He's built like a linebacker but is a good player.

I wouldn't get too caught up in this team or that team getting this or that guy. The Rangers IMO got a very good one in Haggerty. They're competing against 29 other teams and those teams are doing their best to attract guys they like too. There really aren't any secrets. Teams on the bottom can look very attractive if only because making those teams might look quicker and easier and then teams like the Blackhawks, Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Bruins, Flyers, Red Wings are just as attractive to some as the Rangers.

Yes :nod::nod:

Canuck fan here watching the Hitmen playoff series to get a look at Virtanen (not impressed at all).

Tambellini has been the Hitmen's best player IMO. Smart, good passer, and active without the puck. Does a lot of little things to gain/keep possession.
