some ppl obv already know but i just realized the pick we got back in the nash trade turned in to buchnevich. if he becomes a ranger player it def makes up for some of the depth/youth we traded away.

I would have loved to see it not during the end of the season.

With the injury to Kreider, and the ELC sliding up to 9 games, it wouldn't be the worst thing we've ever done. Carcillo is practicing on the first line, for heaven's sake.

The Duke should go to Hartford for a couple of games if he recovers in time. Too bad goalie troubles early in the year caused them to miss the playoffs.

That's a good point. Anthony Mantha was available at our slot in the first, though. Wonder if we would have taken him (Colombus took Kerby Rychel).

Watching Skjei today I can't help but think his style of play is very similar to Michal Rozsival. 2 assists and +3 for him tonight.

Good god no. Anyone but him. Lol.

I really don't see that at all. Rozy was a soft as butter, avoid contact type guy who made a decent first pass while skating like he had work boots on. He never ever would shoot the puck either. And he had a decent shot. He played a relatively smart game when he wasn't in full dufus mode- usually while trying to man the point on the pp.

Skjei is more physical with a great stride and a smooth efficient d first game.

Duclair can sign an AHL contract to play in the AHL for the rest of the season.

Tambellini discussed his future after the game. Calgary was eliminated from the WHL playoffs.

Tambellini was one of the big names added by the Hitmen at the trade deadline.

He said he wasn’t sure if he’d played his last game in a Hitmen jersey.

“That’s totally up to the New York Rangers,†the third-round NHL draft pick said.

“I would have no trouble coming back here if that’s what they want me to do.â€

Tambellini is eligible to play in the AHL next season. Late 1994. He turns 20 in November. He can return to Calgary as an overage player or play in Hartford. Its hard to figure him out. He barely plays in North Dakota and is a better than a point per game player in the WHL.

skjei has been very impressive. night and day difference from last year, to now his sophomore season. you guys have a solid defender in the making. skjei is looking like ryan mcdonaugh

This is certainly "McDonaghesque"

It was supposed to be a .gif of him skating around the rink with the puck. Tried to mirror it on imgur and failed. Oh well. Mods, feel free to delete this post I guess.

While Rozy gets more crap than I think he should (IMO he was an excellent 2nd pair guy asked to play 1st pair minutes), I completely agree with you about the differences in his game and Skjei's. Skjei is much faster and MUCH more physical. I watched him play against PSU a couple of weeks back and he was absolutely CRUSHING people.

Very impressive. It will be interesting to watch Skjei progress. Really begining to think he's our most interesting prospect.

Yeah, I don't get why people are mad to have him get compared to Rosie. They aren't the same in terms of style, but if Skjei becomes as good value-wise, he's a great pick. Rosie is a quality second-pair defenseman and to get someone like that with a late first rounder is a very good outcome.

Skjei will be a better pro than college player. In college hockey,Mike Reilly and the kid from Union are the prototype D. Torey Krug. Small. Good wheels. Can make the stretch pass. That doesn't work in the NHL. Skjei can make the 10 foot pass which is more common in the NHL. He has good size at 6-3 206. He can skate. Good defensively. Skjei has shown some glimpses of offensive ability. Another year of college hockey won't hurt him. Staying in school would be a smart business decision. Skjei signs at 21. Eligible for salary arbitration at the end of the 3 years ELC. McDonagh did that. Stepan signed at 20 and needed 4 years. If Minnesota wins the whole thing, does it have an impact on his decision and whatever the Rangers have planned? Skjei is a Newport Sports client(not yet). Newport are his advisors. When the Rangers selected him in 2012,Newport had news of the selection on their site. They had a list of players on their site "In the system" which included Dylan McIlrath and Skjei. Then the Kerdiles thing happened,Newport removed any mention of Skjei. Ian Pulver represents Kerdiles.

Kevin Hayes of BC. The Rangers need someone like that. Hayes is a senior. RW. Can play Center. The Hawks have his rights until August 15. Hayes will get a ton of interest if he ever reaches free agency. The Hawks have been very active in the college free agent market. They were after Haggerty. They signed one of the Carey brothers. The Rangers wanted that Carey brother too. The Rangers and Hawks were after the Quinnipiac player who signed with the Flames. Calgary signed the player.

Rangers/Blackhawks offered Q'Pac's Bryce Van Brabant contract but without promising games. Should play 5 games down stretch for @NHLFlames

The Rangers are out of NHL SPCs.

Chicago also signed Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Hawks also have Johns from Notre Dame. Graduating senior.

The Swedish kid Folin from UMASS-Lowell should be signing soon. Elliotte Friedman mentioned 4 teams in connection with Folin. Its down to 4 teams. The Flyers,Caps,Wild and Colorado It sounds Folin will be playing in the NHL this week.
