Depending on how he does in training camp, I would definitely give Duclair a taste of NHL hockey. We can keep him for 9 games?
What was his final stat line tonight? Just the 1 goal?
No point in rushing him. Let him dominate Q next season and then go to AHL when he becomes eligible.
1 goal, +1, 3 SOG, 1st star.
1 goal, +1, 3 SOG, 1st star.
1st star?
what was he doing to get that?
He played well but it was a strange choice. His teammates Grigorenko and Archambault both had 4 points and were named 2nd and 3rd stars.
My guess is that he got it because of his milestone goal.

I would. I definitely would give him the Pietrangelo treatment. If he puts on 10lbs of muscle mass he can push for a spot. Would also send him down on a conditioning stint to the AHL so he can get some pro experience.
Would a conditioning stint count against the 9 game limit? If so, he might as well play for the Rangers, and if he's not good enough for that, he'd need to go back to the Q.
Conditioning stint where? He isn't getting a conditioning stint in the NHL. Players don't play in the best league in the world to get in shape. And we've already seen that the NHL won't allow players in his position to do a conditioning stint in the AHL (Grigorenko).
Duclair's options are limited. If he doesn't want to go back to the Q, then he has to prove that he's ready for the NHL.
Hey Serge, can you help me out here? I'm wondering how the Q playoff seedings work with the 3 divisions. It would be cool if I got to see Duclair in a series but seeing as the Eagles aren't the best and are in a different division than Quebec it seems unlikely.
Divisons don't matter for the playoffs. They go with the overall standings. The 3 division leaders finish 1-2-3.
Quebec would play against Chicoutimi if they stay 4th. They'll play against Cape Breton only if they fall to 5th.

No it doesn't count as a part of the the 9 game trial if he gets the conditioning stint in the A.
The way to do this is to send him down for a stint after he makes the opening day roster. The benefit is that he gets 7-10 games in the AHL and also the 9 game stint in the AHL, while working out and training with the pros.
Both Brayden Schenn and Alex Pietrangelo got this treatment their last year of junior eligibility, and went back during the WJC and absolutely dominated since they were playing above the competition the months prior to the WJC.
