OT: 2013-2014 NFL Thread III? (Giants hosting Girls; Jets at Ravens)

Rex back next year? Sounds like a possibility.

If he can keep the team around .500 and if he's really done being a blowhard, I'm not opposed to it.
 
Am I the only Giants fan that is still holding out a tiny bit of hope due to the level of suck in our division? We still have a lot of head to head games with these crappy teams. I mean I know we suck but so do all the NFC East teams.

It's doable in theory. Hard to imagine though, as not only do you have to win games, but you have to hope the other teams lose as well. And with three teams in front of you, it's almost impossible.

I don't see it. The defense can't stop anyone and the offense is incredibly turnover prone. They have shown nothing that makes me think they are capable of going on a run.
 
I'd love Rex to be the Giants DC, or even HC.

I've always liked him (besides some really egregious gaffes), even if saying that is heretical.
 
Rex might be the best coach the Jets have ever had.

Nicks is a big loss for the Giants if he's traded. He's a mismatch for any corner in the league.

Football trades are strange I can never understand the value with them. Having said that I think it's because Nicks is in the last year of his contract heading to UFA so it would be a rental for whoever wants him. Is asking for a 1st or 2nd rounder for a rental too much? I would think so considering Richardson was just moved for a 1st and he's signed.

It's because it takes players months to learn the playbook. RB's are easy. Run right, run left, run straight, block. WR's and guys with routes take longer to learn an offense.
 
I would give rex next year but he's got a plethora of challenge and management issues. He's also consistently presided over horrific offenses. If Idzik thinks there's a coach out there I wouldn't be opposed to it at all but they need to make sure whatever D coordinator they find is half good and can work a system close to what they're doing now or else it might be 1 offensive step forward but three defensive steps back. When we had Edwards and even mangini I never felt like the head coach brought anything to the table. With Rex he tangibly contributes in a noticeable way with his D knowledge. I don't want the team to lose that.
