I continue to stress that the defense is not the problem. It's the offense. Particularly, Eli and the offensive line.

Now, with that said, I'd take Clowney over all of the OTs in the draft and focus on OT in the 2nd and 3rd round.

You take Clowney over Barr, right? Is Barr the pick if Clowney's gone?

Thought Eli was better last night. Think both of the first two interceptions were on Randle. Eli's third was high unfortunately. Last week, his receivers did him no favors in breaking off routes and failing to come back to ball, too. I know it is sad/depressing that we are analyzing Eli's picks here but that's where we are at this point. He has obviously been bad this year, but not just him. He seemed to take the loss personally last night and had some interesting quotes. O-line was good last night against a banged up and sub-par Bears dee. Defense was inconsistent but showed some life at times. Lot of holes to fill. Going to be interesting offseason.

If we are picking in the top 3 and Clowney somehow goes (or if we are picking at 4 and Clowney goes at 3), I take the OT, Matthews, from A&M.

Barr is a 3-4 kid.

Got ya. Definitely need to draft heavy on o-line and LB. That would make sense.

I believe I read that the last LB that Giants drafted in first round was Carl Banks (1984)...

I honestly expected the Jets to be 1-5 by this point. If Rex Ryan is still on the hot seat, it might be that Idzik didn't hire him, but he's making it harder and harder for him to get fired. By contrast, Coughlin should be gone at season's end and if the G-Men can draft Clowney, they should. On the QB end, they need to find an experienced backup that can challenge Eli Manning.

Silly...Eli doesn't need a back up to challenge him..A two time SB MVP doesn't need motivation from a journeymen back up...Eli needs an OL and a dependable running game..and WR who run the correct routes...I will never bash the franchise after the run we've had...Never...

When its all said and done, I dont think the G-Men would be in position to draft Clowney. But with Tuck and Kiwi regressing, I'd draft him over Matthews any day. The opposing quaterbacks have no pressure from our d-line which is exposing our LB's and secondary. Get that d-line fixed first, the rest of the D will play better.

I don't think they're winning anymore than 2 games.

Can't go wrong with any line guy.

I think we seriously have to start questioning if JPP had one fluke year or not. Will he ever recover or have injuries sapped the dominance out of him? Either way we need somebody who can get to the QB just as much as we need someone to stop letting guys get to Eli.

How was that 1st INT on Randle? Eli felt pressure and threw wild ball off his back foot that Bear read and picked

That 2nd INT appears to be 100% on your WR but the 1st wasn't his fault IMO

Looked like Randle didn't run the route Eli expected him, too. You could be right but that's what I took from it.

WR's may be an issue but Eli just doesn't look like himself

He has had consistancy issues in past but he just looks lost out there right now and is throwing off his back foot alot (He doesn't have the arm IMO to get away with it majority of time)

Don't disagree with anything you've said here. Think the pressure he has faced due to a porous offensive line has something to do with it. Sometimes he anticipates a defender getting there. Sometimes there truly is a defender bearing down on him. This game was marked improvement for him from previous weeks. I think he will snap out of it (this year or next). I will put my money on a guy who has won 2 SB MVP's and a number of games in 4th quarters. This season is just plain ugly though.

The 2nd INT was 100% on Eli. Same with the first. He continues to throw balls when and where he shouldn't. 3rd was not his fault at all.

Although I disagree with something else you said. Eli has a HUGE arm. It's the touch that he's lacking when he's throwing off his back foot.

Kellen Winslow suspended four games for steroids. Cumberland finally has his opportunity to become a regular contributor.

Second one Jon? Randle didn't read the defense. Was supposed to shorten his route. Splitting hairs at this point I know.

Rumors that Wilson may have spinal stenosis. Season in jeopardy. Some fearing worse than that. Get healthy and come ready to camp.

The Grantland piece from Barnwell yesterday is stunning. The amount of draft picks under Reese that have suffered injuries is down right freakish.

The second one was getting picked even if Randle ran the correct route. Jennings jumped that floater right from the snap.

If you watch the 2nd pick, it was actually a hell of a read by Randle. Eli had all day. Randle read the D trying to jump the hitch route and ditched the hitch. Eli threw the ball when the DB baited him into a throw.

When it's a miscue like that, I try to place the blame on both players. I think arguments could say it's Manning's fault, while others could say it's Randle's fault, both arguments having merits.

Funny thing is, if the Redskins, and Buccaneers win this week....

2-4
2-4
2-4
0-6

Only two games back! :yo:

Also, forgive my ignorance, but would something like Nicks and a third round pick, for a first round pick and a fifth round pick be a reasonable deal?

Adding a mid-late first would be HUGE. Could go DE, OL/LB in the first round, and maintain a high second round pick (at this rate). Could be a pipe dream though, and again forgive my ignorance on trading in football.

And finally, what's a fun thing to continue to keep an eye on is every time Jacobs gets into the end zone, he extends his Giants all-time record :)

EDIT - Finally - part 2 - thought Beason was a bright spot last night. Best since Connor went down.
