There's absolutely no way to predict a recovery timeline with concussions. That's the only thing that's keeping me from panic'ing with Nash. We could see reports tomorrow that he's cleared to skate with the team, or it could be in a month, two months, or never (ie: Marc Savard). To me the scary prospect is having to use the amnesty on Richards because of cap recapture, and then being stuck with Nash on the books forever on LTIR. Then there's all the guys who are going to need raises, etc. Ugh. Scary path to think down. I'll just keep pretending Nash is gonna be cleared any day now.

What pisses me off the most about the Nash injury is how needless of a hit it was. Flying in on a stationary guy along the boards in his defensive zone with his back to goal. Nash did take 8 shifts after the hit, so it has me a bit more hopeful that this isn't as serious as some suggest. As a person who has sustained multiple concussions, symptoms can disappear overnight. I want to be optimistic, but then I remember Sauer. :(

Also since the original time table for Cally was 3-4 weeks, we can probably expect him back best case scenario 11/10 vs FLA. Worst case scenario 11/16 @ MTL. Hopefully he doesn't have any set backs.

If Nash retires due to injury (which I highly doubt) the Rangers would get charged nothing as the Blue Jackets signed him to his current contract. Even then there wasn't any cap circumventing in his contract so the recapture would be minimal.

Oh come on, Nash is not one more away from retirement.

His first concussion was not that serious.
I mean look at Patrice Bergeron who had a very very serious concussion and had had multiple afterwards.

Nash has had two concussions, only one has been extended, and neither has been of Crosby magnitude so I don't get the fear.

INJURY REPORT
Player|Injury|Injury Date|Expected Return
Hagelin, Carl|Torn labrum|Offseason|10/29-11/2
Lundqvist, Henrik|Undisclosed|10/7|10/28
Nash, Rick|Concussion|10/8|Unknown

I'll update this in post one...

Can you keep the players that have returned still listed, there? It'd be a great way to track how often guys get injured.

I.e. since Hagelin returned, if he's injured again, just add another line below him so we can track his injury history.

Perhaps with Callahan, you can add that he returned and then was re-injured.

What happened to Moore? I missed the injury and didn't know he was out until they said that he wouldn't return. Is it possible that he misses a bunch of games, or it's no big deal...

Ack powe will come back. Unless they just shift Boyle to C and have Mashinter in the lineup

SOOOOOOOOO do I have any chance of seeing Cally CLB next Thursday?

I figure Nash is no chance, siiiigh

Don't count on it. It's only been 2 weeks since he broke his thumb. By next Thursday it'll be close to 3. He'll probably need at least 4.

Nash?

Is his season over? I hear nothing about him anywhere. It is beginning to look like a possible Savard, Pronger, Beukeboom kind of deal to me.

Silence that surrounds concussions is not a good sign.

If I have missed info that contradicts, I apologize. Anyone got anything to calm my fears?

Honestly I think he's gonna be out for a long time. Wasn't even at the home opener. No words at all on his condition. Looks really bad.

there was no word on him last year when he had a groin concussion. this is the rangers policy. they dont leak info on injuries to the head.

He has to go at least ONE week completely symptom free or he won't start the recovery process to come back.

I assume he is suffering from a bad case of PCS (Post-Concussion Syndrome)

Scary stuff, thats for sure.

What kind of word do people want on Nash that he's still having headaches, can't see straight, can't sleep at night..how would any of that info help he could literally wake up tomorrow and be symptom free, patience people.

If Nash has the symptoms you mention he cannot wake up symptom-free tomorrow. It is a very slow process back from those types of symptoms. Cannot imagine he will be back by December. Would be ecstatic to get half a season from him.

I have seen lots of players out with concussions where there was projected chatter on a return to the ice. This is not one of those times.

There would be no cap recapture penalties at all. Nash's contract is back-loaded.

Its really a bit much for them to be completley mum about it. I'm surprised they even let his name be uttered on MSG by Sam..

We just hear nothing. Zero. Its not a good sign he wasn't even at the home opener..

When we actually see him in in the flesh, healthy or not I will be pleased because it will confirm he is still actually living.

It was the same exact way with Staal. That's how they do things.

I just don't see the reason for it. I understand if it were the playoffs, or even if it wasn't.. if the injury wasn't known..

The point is everyone knows its a concussion. Theres nothing to hide, theres no one to fool.

They owe nobody an explaination but I don't think its unfair for fans to want updates.
