Callahan skated today in a non-contact sweater. Its 3 weeks this Wednesday. They said 3-4 weeks. Sounds closer to 4 than 3.

Stop blocking shots. Its simple. Lundqvist gets paid to stop the puck. Let him stop it.

if this was a serious comment its one of the dumbest things I've read on this board

and that is a momumental accomplishment my friend

Blocking shots is a part of the game, but blocking shots with the hand is beyond dumb. There's not a lot of protection there. This isn't the first time Callahan has done this either. I appreciate the courage but it's not worth breaking a hand or finger over.

nice! Hoping Cally is back for the CLB game that's 7 days

If only Nash could get back the teams actually healthy soon

Strang gets half of her info and ideas about the Rangers from this board. She's a medicore reporter. Too busy trying to climb her way up the ESPN ladder.

She gets her ideas from this board? No wonder she can sound like an idiot.

I think Ryan Callahan cares too much about winning to not block shots. I don't know if any other way of playing is something that he is capable of.

Reporter: "So, it doesn't matter to you that it happened in the final few seconds of a 2-0 game? I mean, will you be doing that your first game back..."

Cally: "I think you know the answer to that."

Way to get on the most valuable member on this Rangers board. Rangerboy is right. Callahan has good intentions, but you can't be blocking shots when it is not necessary.

Really? You have no issue with Callahan missing a month of the season with a broken thumb because he tried to stop the shot with his hand? Talk about stupid. Go look in the mirror my friend. :help:

Callahan didn't learn his lesson from the end of the 2010-11 season when he broke a bone in his foot blocking a shot from Chara. He missed the last two games of the season and the Caps series. The Rangers needed the Canes to lose their last game of the season to Tampa Bay for the Rangers to make the playoffs. They lost a brutal game to Atlanta at home because Callahan had suffered a broken bone blocking a shot in the Boston game.

He is too important of a player to this team for him to miss significant time throwing his body in front of slap shots from the point.

lol

Its a good thing that Callahan doesn't think that way.

Keep blocking shots. Everyone on the team should.

Agreed 100%!
No need to be blocking shots especially with a 2 goal lead with under a minute to play.

injuries happen....shot blocking is a part of the game, and a large one at that

should players be smarter about when and how they go about doing it? absolutely

If you had written your original post more along the lines of your reply to me, i would have contested it. I wrote my reponse in reply to your blanket post about not blocking shots because we have a goalie, and I still contend that's a moronic concept that I hope was in jest.
