Lindberg with the first shot. Forehand-backhand deke and Anderson stops it with the toe of his skate.

Rakell with a pump fake and then beats Talbot five hole.

Kristo ties it up with the snap shot low stick side.

Serrault (sp?) stopped on the backhand.

Kreider had the puck bounce on him and didn't get much of a shot off.

Smith-Pelley with the shot through the five hole. (Definitely Talbot's weakness.)

Yogan had the backhand stopped on the goal line. Tried the ol' go left and reach back right to try to slide it in. Anderson essentially fell down on it. Yogan thought it was in, but the ref waved it off.

[Missed who shot for Norfolk, but he missed.]

Bourque needs to score here to keep it going - fires... off the post.

Pack lose in the SO. :(

Kreider looking great is very good news....but i dont want him back anytime soon...id really like him to show dominance for an extended period...atleast 40 + games.... but id prefer a full season

Agree wholeheartedly. The kid needs to show some consistency in his effort level.

completely agree with this post.

I swore I wouldn't be watching hockey the first month of the season because of the incredible schedule I have to maintain right now, but I guess that ain't gonna happen. Hockey>Sleep

Aaron Johnson is the new team captain.

Starting line up: McI-Johnson. Hrivik-Lindberg-Kreider (yes, Kreider is on the RW).

Miller a healthy scratch because he just got to Hartford.

Jean uses his speed to create a penalty. Was pulled down.

Hrivik-Lindberg-Kreider looking real good. Kreider shooting from everywhere, which is exactly what he should be doing. Glad to see he didn't start the season by stickhandling into traffic.

Allen looks really, really good so far.

MCI looks better skating than he did last year, but still has puckophobia.

Kristo draws a penalty with a hussle for the puck behind the Admirals net.

Johnson with a big defensive play.

Yogan taking the puck hard to the net on the PP. Looking good so far.

Turnover by Lindberg causes a breakaway for the Admirals, wrist shot, glove save by Talbot. He hasn't had a lot of action so far, but this was a good save.

Haley is fighiting Stortini. At first it looked like Haley was going to get killed, then he got his balance back and it became an even fight for the second half of it until Haley body slammed Stortini onto the ice.

Bourque steals the puck using his speed, passes to Dupont for a scoring chance. Kyle Jean is centering this line.

Mash is hussling well.

Yogan hits the goal post.

Kreider pressuring and skating well.

Kreider with a nice pass to Hrivik, who comes close to scoring. Great shift by him.

Penalty on Hrivik.

Still on PK, Bickel's stick breaks right in front of Talbot leaving to two Admiral guys with sticks and Bickel without a stick. Shot on Talbot and a save. He's come through when he had to.

Allen is all over the ice. I think there are three of him on every shift.

If Kreider keeps playing like this, he will wind up scoring.

McIlrath fights Stortini. Again it looked early like Stortini would win, but then MCI won the second half of the fight.

FIRST PERIOD OVER

SECOND PERIOD

GOAL: Kristo wanted to pass to Allen right in front of the net and fanned on it. Whitney, an Admiral got it and scored. Talbot got a lot of the puck, but not enough. Awful play by Kristo. Even if it worked, rule #1 is that you never pass the puck right in front of the goalie.

Jean using his speed to skate up the ice and create a scoring chance. Looking good so far, knowing his job in Hartford may be in danger when Miller (and then another Ranger) goes down to Hartford.

Whitney with a breakaway, and a big glove save by Talbot.

Bourque hussling well.

Kreider's speed keeps freaking out the Admirals. He looks really good.

Johnson with a boarding call, but it's not a bad penalty. Good aggressive play.

MCI: good positioning, good skating, can't handle the puck to save a life. He's now playing with Svyret, who's decent at this level, not bad, not great so far.

Pack PP.

Johnson is a very good defenseman at this level.

Interference penalty on Allen.

Lindberg with a good defensive play on the PK that almost led to a 2 on 1.

Kreider draws a penalty right after the Pack kill off the PK.

Hrivik got knocked down and Kreider jumped in to protect his boy. Penalty on Kreider, but that's an excellent penalty for him to take.

MCI looking good on the PK again.

Haley dumped the puck over the glass, so it's a 2-man advantage for the Admirals for 43 seconds.

MCI got hacked and he kept his composure and didn't respond, negating the 2-man advantage.

Jean working hard.

Yogan fighting Clark. Yogan punched Clark a few times, then they wrestled along the boards. To start the play, Clark slammed Yogan and Bickel wanted to jump in to fight, but Yogan said, "no I got it" and proceeded to take care of his own business himself. Love his game today.

Ref decided to give a penalty to both Yogan and Bickel, so it's a 5-on-3 for almost the full 2 minutes. Crazy penalty calls.

PK: Good save by Talbot.

END OF TWO

THIRD PERIOD

Tic-tac-toe goal on Talbot who couldn't do anything here. BS ref call just cost Hartford this goal.

Glove save by Talbot.

Kreider keeps creating opportunities, but they aren't going on.

Pass intercepted by Haley who creates a good opportunity and causes the Admirals to get called for a penalty.

GOAL: Kristo on the PP with a rocket of a shot from the left side right where they take face-offs into the high right side of the net. Nice pass by Johnson to put Kristo in this position. Haley, who originally drew this penalty, gets rewarded with the other assist.

MCI can't stop the puck on the blue line to save a life. I honestly think I'm better at it than he is. Every time they pass the puck back to the blue line and he's there, he lets the puck go through his legs.

Face-off interference call on the Admirals. Allegedly this call, which was almost never called before, will start getting calls now in both the AHL and the NHL.

Bourque with a nice rush and shot.

Hughes displaying good skating and awareness.

Wagner boards Jean into the boards from the back. Hartford boys jump in. Only penalty of Wagner. PP for the Packers, but it was killed off. Only 1-for-8 so far.

Bourque with a good low shot from a bad angle that was tough to stop.

Pack scores, the ref waves it claiming he already blew the whistle, but the puck was inside by the time he blew the whistle. Almost no time (0.4 seconds) left on the clock.

It's a goal after a lengthy replay! Powe from Mash and Kreider, who took the original shot.

END OF THE THIRD

OVERTIME

Pad save by Talbot on a short breakaway. Another good save by Talbot a few seconds later.

END OF OVERTIME

SHOOTOUT (5 shots each)

Lindberg: pad save as the Admiral goalie waited him out on a move to the right.

5-hole goal on Talbot.

Kristo with a low shot and in.

Very nice kick save by Talbot.

Kreider near lost the puck. No goal.

Low 5-hole goal scored on Talbot.

Yogan almost scored on a nice move, raised his arms, but it didn't go in.

Talbot slides right to stop the puck with his pad.

Bourque hits the goal post, so it's a loss for the Pack.

STARS OF THE GAME

1. Kreider: created opportunities the whole game and it was his original shot that led to the game-tying goal being scored.

2. Talbot: stopped multiple breakaways and was a quality player the whole game.

3. Kristo: not the greatest game shift-to-shift, but can't argue with results which were two goals, one in regular season, one in the shootout. Only a third star because he gave away the puck that led to a goal.

Honorable Mention - Allen: all over the ice and good on both offense and defense.

I really liked Aaron Johnson's game tonight, and I really like him as the captain. Weird that it was given to him so unceremoniously as far as the perspective of Wolf Pack fans go. They always embrace their captains yet when he was introduced at the beginning of the game they made no mention of his title.

Sorry to bother u guys but what's the streaming site you guys pay for to watch ahl games

There are two: AHL Live, which is the official site, and then HockeyStreams. Many of us use HockeyStreams since a subscription there gets you NHL, AHL, Canadian junior, and other stuff as well, on top of being cheaper.

Did you guys watch live on Hockeystreams though? The On Demand would not work for me at all last night.

I watched live for a brief moment laying in bed. Worked fine for me.

Just to clarify, "On Demand" is what you go to when you want to watch the game after the fact. "Live Streams" is what you go to when the game is going on; from there you can also choose to join in progress or from the beginning.

If the Wolf Pack only drew 6,000 for opening night it's going to be a long season in terms of crowd size. How will it affect players in an empty building? Today's attendance should be very low, but the rainy weather may help draw a few more people.

I still say when the Islanders move to Brooklyn it would be best for everyone if the Tigers move to Nassau Coliseum and the Pack move to Bridgeport. Win-win for everyone.

It was indeed the lowest season opener crowd in the franchise's history. But the building wasn't empty and it didn't sound empty. There was a very good atmosphere.

Anyways, these guys get used to playing in front of nobody. Weekday and Sunday crowds are brutal in most AHL towns, including Hartford. Always have been, always will be.
