It was indeed the lowest season opener crowd in the franchise's history. But the building wasn't empty and it didn't sound empty. There was a very good atmosphere.

Anyways, these guys get used to playing in front of nobody. Weekday and Sunday crowds are brutal in most AHL towns, including Hartford. Always have been, always will be.

was it really? wow... it didn't feel that empty...

Sundays are terrible for Wolfpack/Whale attendance. Saw that last year in particular

Boy oh boy, the Devils score with just a few seconds played. Hartford nowhere to be seen at the start of this game.

Mind you, this Devils team was supposed to be struggling on the offensive, especially early in the season, as some of their guys left in the offseason or are still at NHL level.

GOAL for the Wolf Pack. Miller gets it off a rebound. Yogan with good pressure creating a turnover. Mashinter throws a backhand on net creating a juicy rebound for Miller to bury.

Looks like the lines are somewhat different from last night with Miller returning.

Kreider-Lindberg-Kristo
Yogan-Miller-Mashinter
Hrivik-Jean-Bourque
Haley-Powe-Kantor

So, Dupont is the guy who sits with Miller back.

McIlrath with a huge hit on Matteau. Showed a couple of good hits so far already (and also one shift where he had some slightly shaky skating).

Great goal by the Miller/Yogan line. Good boardwork. Yogan passes to Mashinter all alone in front. (The announcers keep saying that Miller tried to throw it to the point and it bounced to Mashinter, but I could swear that Yogan pulled it out of the crowd and fed Mashinter.) Spin-o-rama backhander that Kincaid stops. Mashinter, Yogan and Miller all crash the net and Miller puts it home in a wide open net.

Oo. McPherson with a pretty bad crosscheck to drive Hrivik headfirst into the boards. McIlrath gets in there and is jawing at Janssen, but the linesmen get there in time to stop it.

Hrivik appears to be okay.

Power play goal! Kreider scores on the rebound. Stupid ****ing "POWER PLAY" graphic blocked my view.

Watching the replay, it was a GREAT powerplay goal. Pointman passes to Kristo in the high slot, Kristo swings it quickly to Lindberg (they announced Miller, but it looked like 16, not 10) in the right circle. Shot on net, rebound out the other side where Kreider pounds it home from the left circle.

PP GOAL for the Wolf Pack.

Kreider bangs home a rebound on the rebound off a Miller (the announcers believe it was Lindberg. I couldn't tell) shot from the circle. Nice pass from Kristo to set up Miller/Lindberg. Kreider goes to the dirty area and has an empty net for the goal.

Good to see Miller and Kreider looking good.

Kreider looks GREAT again. Deadly speed on the forecheck has caused more than one turnover already.

Also, Kristo and Lindberg routinely look for him streaking up the left side.

He keeps this up and he will meet the team in NYC, when they get back.

Oof, Hrivik with a good play just caused a turnover at the Devils blueline, freeing Bourque to drive in alone, but he handles the puck like a grenade.

Devils with ANOTHER dangerous crosscheck. This time it's Pelley knocking Jean into the boards behind the net. Pack will start the 2nd with a minute and a half of PP time on the clock.

I agree some want him tp spend the whole year in hartford which is very unlikely. If he keeps playing like this he will be back very soon

No, please let Kreider get into a groove for a while in Hartford. No need to rush him back up.

I dont think he was saying rush. The rangers dont play in MSG until teh end of the month so if CK is dominating like this for the next month then there is no reason to keep him if he is ready

Miller with excellent attitude about his demotion when interviewed between period. "Hey - I'm a young guy and the captain came back."

It was a good interview. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. To paraphrase he knows that all he can control is his game and what he does, so he is 100% focused on that.

Exactly - that's why I said "when they get back to NYC". He plays like this for a month and he'll absolutely force the organization to call him up. The player I see out there is better than 3/4 of the current Rangers forward corps.

I feel Both him and Miller will be back up by November as long as they keep playing like they have to start the year
