OL also picked up a double minor in the first for roughing and cross-checking.

Love that when you run the page through Chrome translator, Jarnkrok shows up as Iron Hook. Best name ever.

It's ironhook straight of in Swedish, great name. Old soldier name.

Anyway, didn't see the game today. The series has been quite physical, a grinder for Brynas tried to run OL in G3 and OL answered with getting his elbow real high. I liked the physical side of his game.

That's something I enjoy reading about Lindberg.

Daaaaaamn, Oscar. Sweet move.

Nice diagonal pass to set up the PP goal from the point too. What I wouldn't give to see the Rangers make a play like that this year.

The Swedish Invasion can't happen soon enough.

Time flys, how many recognize the goalie OL scores on as havin played 130+ games for HFD and like a handful of games in NY?

Is it Holmqvist? Or Wiikman? I'm guessing Holmqvist since Wiikman never technically played for the Rangers I don't think.

I remember when Holm was pimped on the AOL board by Wolfie, who then switched to pimping Asplund. Then he began pimping Lundqvist, and I was very skeptical at first because the first two werent great in my mind.

He then called Lundqvist "the next Holmqvist" and when I pointed out that Holm (at that point) never yet played in the NHL, so prospects shouldnt be compared to him, he argued that the fact that Holm was doing well in various junior tournaments is proof of something great.

Long story short, I came out very unconvinced about Lundqvist, but his total domination of the SEL, which quickly followed my debate with Wolfie, sold me big time because Lundqvist was the most amazing goalie in the SEL history, having set most of the major records. Tommy Salo, then-recently out of the NHL, had a full goal more per game as Lundqvist's backup.

I was sold enough to draft Lundqvist in my fantasy league in 2005 before he played his first game. I was mocked for two months, as the Rangers chose to go back to Weekes despite Lundqvist's immediate amazing play. By Christmas, the mocking ended.

The Next Holmqvist won the starting job.

Johan Holmqvist wasn't half bad.

But I've heard afterwards that he had some serious run-ins with our goalie coach at the time, Sam St. Laurent, who just seemed to be a tremendous jerk. Holmqvist spoke in a interview of how St. Laurent could come in and scream that Holmqvist was the worst goalie he had ever seen after games etc., which is odd in the light of Holmqvist easily being a top 3-5 goalie in the AHL at the time.

Nope. They're down 2-1 and they play again today (Tuesday).

Yeah, that series could go either way.

Fasth's team, HV71, just have a really weak blueline. They are very deep upfront and tries to play a dominating game, but their blueline is just not getting the job done and creates alot of instability for the entire team.

If HV71 wins and Färjestad (up 3-1) and Luleå (up 2-1) wins, HV71 plays OL's Skellefteå in the semi's.

Frölunda Will win
They must

I voted Lindberg ahead of Fasth in the prospect poll, this is no shock to me ;)

What a season he's had, talk about taking the next step.

He's listed at 6'0 190. Not bad but he looks bigger, were these measurements before the season? I don't know but I always hoped 6'1 195 was what he'd get up to.

Sammy Pahlsson was the same size as Lindberg. 195-200 pounds. Pahlsson was a key member of the Ducks Cup team in 07. He had some good seasons at MoDo but never matched those numbers in the NHL. If Lindberg can be the Rangers Pahlsson, they will be a much better team.

Absolutely, Pahlsson was very tenacious, and scored at opportune times. A Nemchinov would be nice too ;)

That would be sweet. I lived in CA for several years when Pahlsson played there and he was the definition of a solid hockey player.
