Unfortunately, we don't have anyone on the team who scouts goalies at the moment and it's not in our scope. I was mostly giving these two goalies a shoutout, as I've seen them steal games, but I personally don't have the technical knowledge to break down goaltenders and explain the ins and outs of their playstyles. I would have been doing them a disservice by explaining their game, but I know they deserved recognition.

I would have loved to break down lines and pairs, but we only found out all of the lines for the teams today, so that was tough to do, as the show was recorded a few weeks ago. Thanks for giving it a listen and for the fe

2 Ontario games the best performance

Sorry too many "shots AT the net" counted" as "on net". Also ALBERTA missed a lot of open net wide. Winning goal should have been played as a poke check or shuffle over - not a desperation flop. Ontario tested Alberta goalie with tougher shots/plays whatever the count. Technically superior goalie of the four goalies in the two Ontario games was Alberta's. My opinion.

CWG Update: Ontario wins 9-3 over Nova Scotia and finishes first in Group B. Carson Cameron (1G, 2A), Ryan Roobroeck (2G), Chase Hull (1G, 1A), William Moore (1G, 1A), Matthew Schaefer (1G, 1A), Dryden Allen (2A), Quinn Beauchense (2A) all had multi-point games. Ontario advances to the quartefinals on Thursday where they'll face either Nova Scotia (again) or the Yukon.

I hope it’s Yukon selfishly because I want to see Roobroeck vs McKenna.

@GermanSpitfire and @Jordan Malette: gun to your head right now, if you're picking no. 2 overall in this year's draft, who do you take? Moore or Schaefer? Someone else?
If I was a betting man, and I was given the option of of Moore vs the Field at 2nd overall, I’d take the field if that makes sense.

I really like Schaefer‘s game and see a Drysdale type of defender there.

This is what I am debating right now, and I don't think there's a right/wrong answer. I think a lot of this decision comes down to what assets a team has and where they could benefit most. Have you drafted a lot of top-end forwards recently and can afford to take a swing on Schaefer? If so, it may sound crazy, but he could honestly make sense at pick 1. I don't think there's a team who is in that predicament, but I could see the logic if someone was. Schaefer has been lights out thus far, and I think Ontario's most important player.

Or are you a team who will have a very tough time getting a lot of the top guys to commit? Schaefer to Niagara! Lol

Or Niagara selects Schaefer with their 1st pick knowing they will get one of the top 4 forwards at pick #5. lol

They most definitely do not know that lol. The games have already started with at least 2 of those top 4 forwards saying they might not be willing to go there. And NIA can't do what they did lsat year and call their bluff as they'd get no comp 1st round pick this time

What a crazy game - Ontario takes gold. So glad the team went with Ivankovic for this game even though Nelson had the better numbers going into it.

Here was the game winner by probably the most impressive player for Team Ontario, Matt Schaefer.

Great soft area pass by Martin, he is someone who will obviously go high, but is a sleeper for me in the sense that due to other talents, will fall to a playoff team and just build them and be an impact guy. Been a pleasure to watch over the years in Waterloo and keeps impressing.

Was able to catch the 3rd and 2 overtime periods. Awesome game! Ivankovic stood on his head in the OT periods. He must have saved the game about 5 times. Today was the first chance I got to see Schaefer. You're all right, he's a great looking prospect. His speed is so impressive. Great golden goal too!

I wish the ETA would do series instead of the round robin group play
