19 years ago today...

The Divsion bell is my FAVORITE Pink Floyd album. Yea, that's right I said it. The entire album is about Waters leaving the band.

I think it's up there for me. What Do You Want From Me, Wearing the Inside Out, Marooned, High Hopes, and Coming Back To Life are the highlights, very good album. I pretty much adore all of their albums with the exception of Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother. Obscured By Clouds is another very underrated Floyd album.

The Wall will always be #1 for me, though. Not close.

Speaking of Pulse, is anybody's CD cover still blinking?

1994 also debuted Illamtic and Ready to Die.

Look at the movies:

Shawshank Redemption
Clerks
SFW
Natural Born Killers
Pulp Fiction
Killing Zoe
Dumb and Dumber
Swimming with Sharks

Picking a favorite Floyd album is like picking a favorite child. They're all unique and have an individual personality.

1) Animals
2) Dark Side/WYWH
3) Meddle

I actually find The Wall very overrated and dislike most of it

I like the wall. The show is great. The film not so much. It is what it is for me.

Man I love Youthanasia. Such an underrated work, I put that up against anything Megadeth has done.

I love reminiscing about music and culture from '94 because everything from that year makes me think of the Rangers :)

Love Megadeth, but gotta put Peace Sells and Rust in Peace at the top.

Agreed, but fun fact about Youthanasia... Almost none of those songs were at the same tempo on the final cut as they were written. Ever seen them play Reckoning Day live? It's about 15-20 BPM faster. The producer, Max Norman, was convinced that keeping tracks between 115-125 was the key to success. Every track on Youthanasia falls in there.

When Megadeth broke up in 2002, I had the opportunity to bid on a bunch of stuff. I did buy one of David Ellefsons practice amps that he took on the road with him. The other item I was bidding on was the original Youthanasia preproduction tape. I was the high bidder, but the reserve wasnt met. Still annoyed they didn't let me find out what the reserve was. It had all the tracks at original speeds.

1994

can we please stop posting every year how many years went by since we won the cup. as ranger fans i think we all hurt every year when june 14th comes around. no point in pouring salt on the wound.

btw, pink floyd, the wall #1

Are you kidding? I don't hurt on 6/14 when thinking about the Rangers. I celebrate. It was a joyous moment. Its memory doesn't bring me pain.

are you kidding me? besides witnessing the birth of my 2 children 6/14 was the best day of my life (and that includes losing my virginity :) ). the memory does not bring back pain. but knowing that 19 years have flown by already hurts.

You act like we lost Game 7 and that was our most recent Finals appearance or something.

first off. mr. schultz has not practiced dentistry in 5 years. hes now in the business of parlaying corpses for money ;).

second. i dont care about final appearances. which we have not had many or at all the last 19 years. i do very much care about winning the CUP. which had its 120th birthday this year. you cant be almost pregnant. its either you are or you're not.

You can't escape it as a Rangers fan. 1994 will forever be milked til the last drop by this franchise. Not much success to lean back on.

Everyone here wishes the Rangers have had more success. I look at it as at least the Rangers have won in the recent past, while there are many franchises that have never won (or even made it to the finals). That gives up something to celebrate, not mourn, in my opinion, even if it has been a while.

I was actually talking with my girlfriend about this over the weekend. With her growing up in the south, the only thing she remembered was OJ Simpson (which blew my mind) being that OJ was third fiddle to the Rangers and Knicks.

I was 10 years old at the time, but the span of those 3 days are still vivid in my mind. On 6/14, with Bure slowing down on the icing and McTavish winning the final faceoff, and Mess hoisting the Cup.

And then 3 days later being yelled at by my parents for sitting too close to the TV because the NBA Finals Game 5 was in a small picture-in-picture box on the lower left part of the screen, because NBC was showing the Bronco chase on the rest of the screen.

And then to the music topic, one of the best and worst years. Best for all the awesome albums that were released as a lot of you mentioned, and one of the worst because of Kurt Cobain untimely passing.

It's album you have to listen to in its entirety in one sitting to really enjoy. I feel like if you listen to about 75% of the songs on their own they are kind of meh.

So Far, So Good, So What? Is also a good one. So is KIMBABIG. But I digress.

I really like Killing Is My Business...., especially the remastered version they put out a few years ago. The original album was recorded on a shoestring budget in 1984, and the band apparently spent half of the cash on drugs.

Cool story. I saw Megadeth live at Irving plaza about a month after 9/11. It wasnt too long after Nick Menza and Marty Friedman had left the band (those 2 with the 2 Daves were the best lineup musically, hands down). Ellefson was still in the band at that point. They sounded great, and Mustaine was fired up when they played Holy Wars that evening.

Very true. It's one of those concept albums that is meant to always be a unit. I personally just don't like that unit much anymore

Listening to fans around the league chant 1940 for years was pooring salt on the wound Winning felt great and remembering that feeling still does. Nothing can take that away.

I LOVE the Floyd, just not so much The Wall anymore. Animals, to me, is the best of the best

You could take any of DSOTM/The Wall/WYWH/Animals and argue that it's the best. Most incredible run for a band ever IMO...four prefect, classic albums all in a row, over the course of 6 years.
