You could take any of DSOTM/The Wall/WYWH/Animals and argue that it's the best. Most incredible run for a band ever IMO...four prefect, classic albums all in a row, over the course of 6 years.

Well being that Metallica is my #1 I have to be biased and say that Ride The Lightning-Load is my all time greatest album run

Ive got a Metallica tattoo - love them. Ride - Justice is the best 3 album run for me, probably followed by Let it Bleed - Exile from the stones.

I like the Black Album and Load, but they're a little too polished for my taste.

Load is tied with RTL as my number 1 with MOP a VERY close 2nd. The orders change so much tho. The price of super fandom I suppose

Load pissed off the heavy metal purists something awful between cutting their hair and going with a more bluesy sound. Its a very underrated album.
