Last season we scored most goals, this season we've scored the fewest. It doesn't help that our best goalscorer from last season is on indefinite sick leave because of exhaustion syndrome either.

Can someone explain why SHL teams also play in the Champions League.
ASP has also scored 2 goals and an assist in 5 gamea in the Champions League.
Skelleftea is a very low scoring team, only having scored 31 goals in 16 games while allowing 26 but have scored at a better clip in the Champions League over 5 games.

Long story short, the CHL is a best of the best tournament for the euro leagues. There's a cash prize for the winner. It's similar to the champions league for soccer (football).

right..from a cursory glance, it doesn't look like there have been a ton of opportunities for a defenseman to exactly rack up points lately.

The SHL in general is a very defense-oriented league. Veeeery systems heavy. Don't forget that.

Yeah the SHL is strange, there are only 2 players above a PPG and one of them is a defenseman with 4 games played.
goal and 2 assists today. Now up to 7-3-10 after 17 league games.

Bedard, Carlsson, and Fantilli are already full time NHLers. Fresh Prince has 14 pts in 10 games with BU.
He could wind up being the top defensive pick, but he's still got some competition with Bonk going PPG in the OHL and Willander doing OK at BU,
Speaking of OHL defensemen...Gibson with 14 points in 20 games ... not too shabby.

Gotta take junior stats with a grain of salt though..... Madison Bowey was a PPG defensemen in the WHL.

ASP has better numbers than Raymond had.
Isn't he getting a lot more icetime than Raymond did? And a lot more power play time, I presume.

No , both 2-3 lines, ASP also defansman. ASP has more PP minutes, and Raymond one timer who was awesome usually second unit on PP.
