Prospect Info: 17OA: Axel Sandin Pellikka

2 out of 3 of those dmen aren't good defensively. and all 3 are better skaters. ASP fell because of his skating, and while it looks better than the pre-draft videos I watched, it's not anywhere close to what Makar can do.
Which one of Makar or Fox isn't good defensively?

Makar has better footwork with the puck than all but the elite forwards:

and Larkin-like speed:

Sorry, but aside from a handful of Wings, he's my favorite player.

Wait, going by your post are you insinuating that Adam Fox is not good defensively?

I mean obviously if you are expecting Makar 2.0 from ASP you're going to be disappointed. I don't see how that in any way gets in the way of the fact that there is a LOT to like about his game and a lot to be excited about.

And if ASP turns out as bad on D as Fox or Makar who apparently "aren't good Defensively", then I think we did ok with that pick.

They both more mature physically and closer to NHL, but not as skilled and smart as ASP
Hold on now; reinbacher was about half a ppg in a league similar in strength to the shl in his draft year, and willander produced similarly to asp at u18s and has looked great in college hockey in his debut. We don’t need to discount everyone else’s prospects to feel good about ours

Damn. Liam Dower Nilsson is leading the SHL in goals early on. Is this getting any talk around here?

The real question that everyone keeps dancing around here is, who’s a better prospect, ASP or Edvinsson?

You think Hughes is good defensively? LOL.

Makar is generational talent, I just hate when people start comparing a prospect to someone at that high of a level. Nobody goes around comparing Kasper or Danielson to McDavid.

If people said Ghost with better defense or Rafalski with hair, I'd have no issues. I think he needs to make further improvements to his skating for his game to translate to the NHL level, but I do like what I see so far.

Oh no, I loved this pick on draft night at 17. My hot take was that it made up for the the Danielson pick. I was on team drvosky and never thought ASP would still be there at 17. And full disclosure I began to change my tune on Danielson that night. Never fully acknowledged who bad Brandon was/is, but that's on me.
Pretty much exactly the same here. And then as soon as i watched Danielson's highlights more I realised nearly all his teammates are very unlikely to make it to the pros
